Currently require 305 SC’s to retail Platinum with Virgin with a review date of end of Feb 2024.
Have return J business class trip from BNE to BKK booked and have KrisFlyer account linked to booking.
Question is, will I receive SC’s for Virgin or do I need to link my Virgin FF number to booking to receive SC’s.
Thanks

Will need to have your VA FF number in that booking and remove the KF one

To remove existing KF FF reference will need to online chat to SIA to delete the KF FF member number from the booking, then you’ll be able to enter your VAFF Number. That’s assuming you have your KF and VA accounts linked.

Do you know if this can be done at check in?

I have done that many times with awards. (SQ make it very difficult to get FF credentials other than Krisflyer into ther Award bookings but IME it can generally can be done at check in.)

It's my partner flying only this time on a PE revenue booking, so I have to drum into his head to change the FF number to VA at check in. Originally we put in KF during booking for the free wifi but he said he'd rather have VA points and credits.

It is 6+ months since I had a revenue booking but ISTR the ability to change FF credit to non SQ online. This as distinct from Krisflyer reward bookings where SQ is the only option.

You can enter both the SQ and VA numbers to get both benefits. It should let you do this online too, the SQ website was recently updated to allow it.

Thought it's one or the other? You mean you can get the wifi and points going to VA?

I think the IT problem still exists where if you try to change it, the OTP message comes up, but no OTP is received despite the mobile number being in there.

That was my experience later last year hence my post #4 to resolve. Others have posted that you can switch FF memberships at checkin, but this is not something I've tried.

You're supposed to be able to as of late last year. Is this a ticket issued by SQ? ie. ticket number starting with 618

Send me the booking reference, full pax name, SQ number and VA number privately. I'll get someone to change it for you.
Thanks very much for the offer. As it's my partner's booking, I'll let him do it at check in as I don't want to be the one responsible if something goes wrong.

Just finished an SQ itinerary to Asia. I needed 123 Status Credits to maintain VA Gold for another year. Thought I would just add my VA FF number to the first segment - a J flight MEL-SIN so asked for this to occur at MEL C/In. This was reflected on the Boarding Pass while also recognising my KF status for PPS Value for the segment.

Unfortunately the miles credited to SQ and nothing I could do in Singapore got this reversed. I spend some time with the SQ agents at the Changi Lounge and they tried their best. I'm not sure what else I could do as it was not possible for me to change the FF number on an SQ ticket online in advance as reported above.

Good news though - I did the same at C/In in SIN for the long flight to CNS and these miles and status credits credited to VA two days later while the PPS value has gone to SQ. Lesson is to be very clear and double check that the VA number has been correctly added at C/In.

So now only need 3 more SC before end April with lot's of options to achieve this, without flying. I'll never get to Platinum but find Gold is quite satisfactory for us with Family Pooling.

Anyone know if SQ479 counts as two segments for the purpose of SC earn? It has a stopover in Johannesburg but both legs operate under the one flight number.

one flight number
From what I know, If it is one flight number, then it is considered as one flight.

Edit: I think there is a thing about being one flight number on the same calendar day or something. If it is on a different (or next) calendar date, it is considered a separate flight?

These are called 'direct' flights and depends on how it is ticketed.

CPT-SIN or JNB-SIN. I don't think it is possible to book as CPT-xJNB-SIN.
