I currently live in TPE and am looking at return flights on China Airlines (TPE>MEL>TPE). Do I need to book on the QF website to earn points? Or can I book directly with China Airlines (cheaper) and still earn QF points?
The QF website says this:
An article from 2019 on AFF says:
Since the TPE>MEL flight would have a QF codeshare number, I'm assuming I can earn points regardless of whether I book it on the QF or CI website, but I wanted to double-check.
The QF website says this:
When you fly between Australia and Taipei, you can earn Qantas Points on eligible flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number, and use your Qantas Points on eligible flights operated by China Airlines.
An article from 2019 on AFF says:
China Airlines is not in the Oneworld alliance and is not a full Qantas Frequent Flyer partner. As such, it is not normally possible to earn or redeem Qantas points on China Airlines flights (unless booking a Qantas codeshare flight between Australia and Taipei). You also won’t receive any Qantas Frequent Flyer status benefits when flying with China Airlines.
Since the TPE>MEL flight would have a QF codeshare number, I'm assuming I can earn points regardless of whether I book it on the QF or CI website, but I wanted to double-check.
