Hi

I am QF Gold (45 pts to Plat) and I've got a flight from Auckland to HK on Qantas business, then HK to London BA business, then return is business BA to HK then Cathay to Auckland. Will I earn full points on all these flights? I.e. is the points calc the same for BA & Cathay flights as it is for Qantas flights?

I thought I remembered that you earned less points on BA and Cathay, somethign like 25% on BA and 50% on Cathay but I've been to the Qantas Earning Points page and I can't find any mention of that now. It says "You will earn one Qantas Frequent Flyer point per mile (or 1.609km) travelled on eligible* Full Economy flights with Qantas, oneworld alliance airlines and partner airlines"

thanks, H

If you are flying in business class then you will earn 100 miles plus 25% class of service bonus regardless. On BA and Qantas you will also earn the Status bonus of 50% for Gold or 100% for Platinum whilst you will not earn it on CX

Reduced base mileage earning is only an issue in economy

Welcome to AFF manofham :)

In business class the point and SC earning is the same rate within one world, except for 2 aspects. (1) minimum mileage varies by airline - doesn't apply to you. (2) status bonus is only on QF, BA and AA (American Airlines) coded flights. So flying CX (Cathay Pacific) you lose out on the 50% bonus miles.

In economy it isn't quite as simple as varies by booking class and also exception to BA earning on the kangaroo route.

Thanks all for you quick replies. Very helpful.

The Cathay flight has a BA flight number so am I correct in thinking that I will get the status points for that?

Yes, if you have a BA (or AA or QF) flight number then you get the Status Bonus paid.

Yep! Status bonus applies as per the QFF T&C:
9.5.2 A Status Bonus will be applied for Eligible Flights with a Qantas, Jetstar, American Airlines® or British Airways flight number. The Status Bonus for Silver Members will be 25% of the Base Rate, 50% for Gold Members and 100% for Platinum Members.
