Earning qualifying points/nights on rewards nights

Sorry if this has been asked previously but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to my question, which is whether elite points/nights are earned on reward nights where a combination of Cash & Points are used.
The IHG website is not entirely clear unfortunately, so any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I believe that elite nights are now earned on all reward nights, including points+pay. However, elite nights are not earned on nights not booked directly through IHG. I don't know when this new policy takes effect.

I don't have a reference for this either. I think I read it on here somewhere....
