I am looking at flights to Dubai to which QF do not fly, as far as I can see. So in order to earn SCs, I have been reading up. I have read the Airline Earning Table, the Status Credit page and section 9.3 of the FF T&C's. Can somebody confirm if I am thinking correctly please :p

Basically, I need to either,

1. fly on a flight that has a QF flight number on the ticket, irrespective of the actual owner of the plane, for example, flying DEL -> SIN on Jet Airways metal on QF3954 ticket rather than a 9W18 ticket or MEL -> SGN on Vietnam Airlines metal on QF337 rather than VN780 will earn SCs and points.

2. fly with one of the following airlines; American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, JAL (Japan Airlines), LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana, Royal Jordanian Airlines and S7 where you will earn SCs and points irrespective of the flight number on your ticket.

I have not gone into the Minimum Points Guarantee, segments rather than sectors, JQ plus/max/business flights or what ticket class gets what amount of SCs or points earned. This is purely about if I can earn SCs on a particular airline or flight.

* You can earn Status credits when flying on eligible Qantas, oneworld Alliance airlines (American Airlines®, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, JAL (Japan Airlines), LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana, Royal Jordanian Airlines and S7), Air Pacific, Jetstar or QantasLink services - see the Airline Earning Table. Status credits can be earned on flights operated by Jetstar Airways where a Qantas flight number is entered on your ticket when booked in Y, B, H, K or W class, or on a Jetstar Starter Plus, Starter Max or Business Max fare only.
On eligible flights with that airlines flight number on your ticket.

Pretty much spot on, although you also earn SCs on Jetstar if you pay for it and FJ.

seems correct to me :D you could go the RJ way via AMM but it will ad substantial time to the trip.

Just remember that not all Oneworld fares earn points or SC's with the QF program.

The Airline earning table on the QF website does label what classes are eligible and what classes are not.
There are also some codeshares (I am thinking CX as one, but leave QF out of this) that operate on non Oneworld metal (CX1726 from memory). These do not earn points or SC's.

The flight number is very important - in fact it is the key to the earning table.

i.e. QFF point/SC earning has the marketing carrier as it's foundation, not the operating carrier.

e.g. Fly Alaska Airlines (AS) metal on an AS flight number in an earning class and NO SC's can be earned.

Sit on the same Alaska Airlines aircraft on an AA codeshare flight number in an earning class and SC's will be earned. This is indicated by the following in the AA part of the earning table: "Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes."

QFF points will be earned in either case as AS is a partner. But since there is no mention of SC's against AS, they are not earned.

As a rule of thumb, if "Status Credits" are not specifically mentioned against an airline, they are not ordinarily earned.

This is as indicated on the CX part of the earning table:
Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points and Status Credits are not earned on joint venture flights or Codeshare
Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines.
