Hi All, Does anyone know if the Qantas status point earned on AirBerlin flights are classified as economy or discount economy. Was thinking of booking a saver flight between London to Berlin and London to NY

thanks!

depends on the ticket class,

if you are booked into ticket class O, P W or E then you will earn SCs at discount economy levels and points at 0.25 per mile

if you are booked into ticket class V, S, N, Q or G then you will earn SCs at discount economy levels and points at 0.50 per mile

if you are booked into ticket class Y, B, H, K, L or M then you will earn SCs at economy levels and points at 1.00 per mile

if you are booked into ticket class J, C, D, or I then you will earn SCs at business levels and points at 1.00 per mile with a 25% cabin bonus

looking at the Air Berlin website and doing a dummy booking Heathrow to Berlin in late Arpil put me in class N so discount economy.

your ticket class is on the booking page under class on the right hand side

Hmmm ... QFF in general relies on the Marketing carrier (Flight number) for point earning eligibility, not the operating carrier.

The Airline Earning table relates mainly to QFF points earned and only indicates whether SC may be earned or not - nothing else: Airline Earning table

Since those are AB flight numbers the AB table is important - but the ONLY part that relates to SC earning is this:
Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points and Status Credits are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines.
You can ignore "Economy" and "Discount Economy" on that table in relation to SC earning.

The ONLY booking class that earns "[Full] Economy" SC's on oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines is Y.

This is noted in a hard to find small print footnote on completely separate web page here: (Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Status Credits)
For international flights, Qantas Economy is class Y. For travel on oneworld Alliance airlines or Air Pacific, Economy is class Y. For flights on Jetstar, Economy includes travel on Starter Max fares only. For flights on British Airways, Economy includes travel on World Traveller Plus fares.

Hmmm indeed....following through, so to speak,

Airline Earning Table

blah blah blah .......

Where airlines are eligible to earn Status Credits, refer to the
Status Credit earn table

Status Credits

blah blah blah .......

* You can earn Status credits when flying on eligible Qantas, oneworld Alliance airlines (American Airlines®, airberlin, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, JAL (Japan Airlines), LAN, Royal Jordanian Airlines and S7), Air Pacific, Jetstar or QantasLink services - see the Airline Earning Table. Status credits can be earned on flights operated by Jetstar Airways where a Qantas flight number is entered on your ticket when booked in Y, B, H, K or W class, or on a Jetstar Starter Plus, Starter Max or Business Max fare only.

For international flights, Qantas Discount Economy includes classes B, E, G, H, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S, and V, and Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards booked in X class. For flights on Jetstar, Discount Economy includes travel on Starter Plus fares only.

For international flights, Qantas Economy is class Y. For travel on oneworld Alliance airlines or Air Pacific, Economy is class Y. For flights on Jetstar, Economy includes travel on Starter Max fares only. For flights on British Airways, Economy includes travel on World Traveller Plus fares.

so to summarize, unless you are booked into ticket class Y on Air Berlin you will earn Discount Economy sta
tus credits

thanks serfty
:)

Anyone figured out how to link a QFF# to an airberlin booking after the fact - or will I have to wait till check in ?

Can you do it online? on Qantas.com AB shows up at the bottom of the oneworld carriers list.
