From previous posts this was meant to be happening late this year or early 2010.

Any news/confirmation ?

I was excited by this because San Francisco is my preferred arrival point but now I fly economy on Horizon for $69 one way to Mammoth Mountain and get a free limo transfer too.

The darkside's nemisis, Lovestotravel.

The velocity earn sort of lost its attraction.

The stuff ups with the Brisbane-LA, NZ-Syd-LA and Mel-LA planes made us (and some of the 10,000 registered forumites) shop around for connecting flights. B2S was right. We're getting

1. one way car rentals with no penalty, no excess, and half what sites like Rhino and Vaustralia's site want for cars. That one way to the Casino at $US60 overnight is a bargain because of the free intra-resort travel. Who needs a car?
2. 15% off hotels' sale rates, and $US60/night 2 bedroom units;
3. 25% off condos in NZ,
4. free limos from the Beverly Hills Hotel to the airport,
5. free clubs in LA ad SF to the airport after a hard last day playing tennis or swimming in the heated pool. The choclate fountain and buffet is to die for. I bet these lounges aren't as good, or as free;
6. and from Horizon Airlines, $69 to Mamoth - with a free limo.

You must be dreaming of California.............. :lol: or look after animals?

Where is the DJ rep to answer my question, I am about to book Continental instead of Virgin America....

I'm dreaming of the movie in NZ atm, (as well as how to get back to LA from SF but I can live without cadillacs and first class Vamerica seats). Spaz is lined up as cameraman if things go to plan. Taxi's on the invite list and he might bring the Governator's god daughter. It'll be awesome.

Why Continental? Where are you off to?

Vamerica has a 'cyber sale' on, eg $39 from SF to Vegas and $39 iirc Vegas to LA. I know first class will take our bags but what's the fees for coach passengers with our type of baggage? Is Southwest cheaper?

Will get back to you on ETA for this - I know it's in train but not across the detail. Nirvana would be a single program for all Virgin group airlines, and we will get as close as possible so it should function like the relationship between the airlines in formal alliances (Star, oneworld, SkyTeam).

cheers

Lovestotravel, Southwest presently have $39 fares b/w LA and SF with 2 free bags. VirginAmerica has a $39 fare too, but want $20 per bag x 2 bags in 'main cabin', a total of $79.

Southwest's OTP is quite good also, but its just essentially a bus on wings as many say. My last SWA flight was delayed 10mins but they turned the 737 in 15mins so we went out ontime. Southwest will always be cheaper than anyone else if you want to take bags.

OK, we have a "go-live" date but I have been asked not to be specific as there is still some delivery risk, so best I can say is 1st quarter next year. However it will include status benefits as well as earn/burn.

cheers

Any chance of redeeming Velocity points for past flight with Virgin America under this new deal? (as in flown VX Nov/Dec this year)

Hi there :)

Any further updates to this

I have LAS-JFK, IAD-SFO and SFO-SAN booked in first class for late Feb and March and really want to earn Velocity points/status for this.

Sorry, no I can't give any further update - original advice stands.
Sunstar320 - I don't think there will be retrospective crediting for flights booked and flown before the announcement.
cheers
