Husband is pondering a couple of day trips from Heathrow to CDG or Brussels or .... Somewhere
He is staying at Heathrow .
He is one world Platinum via Qantas
Does that have an impact on a ticket "Economy Basic" ?
Baggage wise He won't be checking anything but if he ends up at Disney Paris he will probable buy a few things .
Also selecting seats etc ?

He'll have lots of cabin baggage allowance - 23 Kg. Seat selection is free at any time for OWE.

So not worth paying the extra pounds ?
Was hoping that was so :)
Thank you
Just keep in mind the cabin bag dimensions can't exceed 56x45x25cm (though this is loosely enforced).

The seat selection benefit is quite generous - as Oneworld Emerald, even exit rows can be selected free of charge from time of booking.

Any checked baggage allowance on Economy Basic for a QF Gold?

And often you’ll get texted offering to check in your cabin baggage for free

Are you sure about that for BA Economy "Basic" fare? I always thought OWEs (and OWS) didn't get to bypass the baggage limit.

The BA website also suggests they don't (see the "*").

All other benefits (seat selection etc) are the same.
I think @clifford just meant the cabin/overhead locker limit is much higher on BA than other carriers, since many limit it to 7 or 10kg. The cabin bag weight limit is the same for all economy tickets and doesn't change with status.

So yep I think we're all in agreement that there's no checked in luggage benefit for status passengers travelling on basic economy tickets.

Yes, I see. The 23 kg leapt out at me as an awful lot of HLO! I don't think I want to be that person :)

I just checked the policy again and it's actually 23kg for the underseat bag plus 23kg for the overhead locker bag - crazy! Handy for those who need to urgently transport some bricks I suppose 🤣

Or sewing machines?

Hoping someone can help. I'm attempting an LHR-OPO in Economy Basic. I'm Qatar Platinum via Status Match, admittedly. So at the pax screen I insert my Qatar number. Then at the seat selection screen, I can still see prices above any particular seat I may choose instead of no-cost. The seat selection is not the biggest deal really, I'm probably more concerned about an increased baggage allowance. For context myself and my non-status partner are flying into LHR in J with SIN and this is the continuation of a 4 week Euro trip.

Is there anything in particular I need to do please in order to get BA to recognise my Status?

Skip seat selection at time of booking (I’ve always found that BA prompts to pay even though your number is there). Then go back in under MMB and you’ll be able to select seats.

Per the comments earlier in this thread, just note that status passengers do not get any luggage benefits on basic economy tickets
Thank you, that is good to have confirmed. I'll adjust tickets accordingly they do not cost that much more

HEL is nice this time of year. Flying AY from LHR T3.

And he could try out the First Wing in HEL.
