I have just been looking June 2012 classic award flights. Can someone explain this to me?
Economy LHR - CNS 64,000 pts

Clicked business but flights offered LHR- SYD Economy & SYD to CNS business Cost 128,000 pts (makes SYD - CNS a very expensive J flight)
Clicked first flights offered LHR - SYD first and SYD - CNS business 192,000 pts

Why are QF offering predominantly economy flight and charging business points? Am I bring a dill and missing something obvious?

Thank in advance guys

Classic Awards for mixed classes will be booked at the points level required for the highest class.

This has been brought up multple times, and it is most commonly in the context of a trip from a eastern seaboard city to LAX, where the engine will put you on a domestic business flight to another eastern seaboard city then economy across to LAX. While this is strictly in accordance with the rules, I think it is pretty poor form.

I've found this many times, its annoying and frustrating paying for J and not getting it, about time QFF did something about it.

Simple answer - book as separate bookings. I am not sure if over the phone they can do as separate bookings and combine (that would give protection of being on same booking) - otherwise book with >24 hr stopover (and you will be charged to component points) and pay the penalty to move the second flight so it connects!
