Going to coughet from Melbourne next March, my wife has a medical condition that has back pain, what is the best (comfortable & convenient) option for us to fly with Singapore, the 777-300ER or the A350-900. Both are available at different times of the day which is no big deal. I realise Economy is not ideal but we used our points this year for Business Class and don't have enough this year and Premium Economy is still too expensive at $2,045 each one way. We plan on stopping over in Singapore on the way home.

I read the review of the 777-300ER Economy which was favourable on here but there doesn't appear to be one for the A350-900.

Any thoughts welcome.

Looks like the 777 seats are an inch wider, I thought the 777 was a more rotund plane & they’re both 3-3-3 layout so that makes sense. Same pitch though. Sounds like you’re after comments on seat shape though; dunno there.

Thanks Forg, that is useful to know, anything that helps the wife is welcome.

Have a very fast look on Air Canada if there's redemption. (Which there likely will be) , you can buy Aeroplan points immediately with the 125 % bonus (you dont have long before it emds though).

I believe MEL - SIN -HKT is only 45k aeroplan miles +$147CAD for SQ J one way per pax

You would need 180k for 2pax return which would cost you 2800 CAD right now + about 500 CAD in taxes. All in probably just under 3800 AUD total.

You'd need to move fast as the 125% bonus ends soon (drops down to 100%).

Of course 4k is pricy but it would represent a reasonable discount. If you want more info, look up the Aeroplan points purchase thread.

After some research and taking into consideration the comments I have booked the premium economy with Singapore Airlines and included a three day stop over in Singapore. Jetstar are cheap but their arrival times are late, you effectively end up paying a full day of accommodation for 1 hours sleep. Have travelled with Singapore and have no complaints.
