economy x seats

With a recent flight Mel to MCY I paid for Economy x seats and was given row 5 which is usually econ x but this flight Econ X ran out at Row 4.
Business was also different with no separator.
Is this a new design? Econ X was stamped on seats row 3 and 4 but not 5. Certainly no extra legroom.
Plane was 737-800 VH-VUK

Just off topic but just had a chance to fly both versions of the VA B738 back to back yesterday (a 30 row aircraft with the typical purple divider and then a 31 row refurb without the purple business class divider but with new tablet holders and seatback usb) and while usb and holders are good...

Tried to they gave me the run around argued I was in econ x
Now got to put in a formal complaint to get my $60(2 seats) refund.

It's the config for the new jets. I was in my usual 3A a week ago, so comfy and soooo much room. VA are still considering how to separate Bus & the rest of us. Happy for them to take their time.
