EK 404/405 DXB-SIN-MEL will upgauge to A380 as of 01 MAR 2016. Nice to see A380 back permanently on SIN-MEL route. Much better than EK's 77W. and also preferable to QF A330 service, so when choosing QF coded flights hard to go past the A380.

Seriously great news; might even encourage SQ to re-introduce the A380 to MEL.

In my ideal world, I wish EK would bring forward by a few hours the departure time ex-Mel, thus having a better arrival time into Singapore (rather than midnight)

If we're being selfish, I'm happy with departure time as is, it allows me to maximise time in MEL without doing overnight to SIN. I have until 4pm in winter, or 5 in summer before heading to Tullamarine. Mind you my last two trips back to SIN have left MEL at midnight (economy) and 6:30pm (business), and strangely enough the next day I felt more tired after the midnight arrival in business, than the overnighter in Y.......

Happy to see A380 upgrade for MEL, have thought about going via MEL for the $20 extra from BNE-SIN and might look at doing that now.

8th May 2016 also sees a temporary change - EK432/433 (DXB-BNE) drops 5th freedom via SIN and will move to being a direct service still with 77W.

Looks like I just might change to just flying ex BNE via MEL.
