Hey everyone,
I am feeling the need to book a little getaway soon ( pleasure not business for once) and was thinking about visiting Auckland.
I saw the Emirates flights on the A380 and wondered if anyone had any experience on this route in their business/first cabins?

I have Gold status with VA so I need to decide whether its worth missing out on the status credits/points (and worth the coin) to test out EK.

Let me know if you've had any amazing trips on this route as I'm new to both Emirates and Auckland.

Happy Flighting :):D

Have done both the J & F cabins, Both are excellent but on the short 3 - 4 hour flights across the ditch I wouldn't spend the money on F, stick to J. Usually pretty light loadings so can get which ever seat you want. We always get 7k and 9k ( for a short flight we don't need to sit together) the front of the cabin gets it service first and they work back although on the evening flight back I don't usually have food but I will go and stand at the bar for a couple of hours.

IMHO......forget your VA and just try it

Hi jackthomas, I can highly recommend both of the classes you are talking about.

I made this trip again 5 weeks ago on Emirates, I have travelled in both J and F and business is superb but you wont get the caviar or shower that first has.

I am in the process of planning another trip before Christmas. I love the A380.
I am also gold VA but gladly give up the points to travel on the A380 with Emirates, there is no comparison.

Make sure you check out the price difference between Y & J on EK.

We (the wife and I) flew AKL-MEL J in January this year and paid ~$550 OW... Y was $450 at the time. I promptly stood at the bar socialising while the wife watched movies... not a bad way to spend the last flight our honeymoon. :D

Best service across the Tasman in all classes. Have done a few first and business and all very good. The bar if you are a drinker is fantastic.

A couple of us booked in J using QF points. Wide open availability most days for awards. It's a lot of points but when ANZ gives them away for free it doesn't seem to matter so much?

A friend is just back having paid $250 O/W and offered J upgrade the day before for $220 which he promptly accepted...

Mrs Ansett and I have travelled on the EK service several times and thoroughly enjoyed especially J and F and the shower :) :) :)
