Just saw this in the news - original media statement is here: Emirates to double daily services to Brisbane from June 2023

“In addition to the current A380 servicing the route daily, Emirates will add a daily 777-300 service starting from June 2023.

“It’s estimated to bring in an additional 129,210 seats, including an estimated 38,610 visitors to the state and generate overnight visitor expenditure of $75 million a year.

“The extra service is also estimated to provide an additional 730 direct and indirect jobs for the state.

”The Boeing 777-300 aircraft is able to carry up to 354 passengers.

It will be operated by a 777, complementing the existing A380 service. The article and statement don't mention what the schedule will be.

Surprising what throwing tax payer money at airlines will do o_O

About the fund
On 11 February 2022, the Queensland Government announced a partnership with the private sector to invest $200 million. The investment will secure more direct international flights into Queensland, to rebuild our international visitor economy.
Objectives
The fund will provide:

Most likely the previous schedule departing DXB in the early hours of the morning, arriving BNE in the evening before turning around to depart after the A380 flight...

I'm hoping the tax money will get EK back doing SIN-BNE too 😂

Yep, just looked up Expertflyer. It looks like:

Route #DescriptionDeparture timeArrival time
EK431 (new)BNE-DXB02501100
EK435BNE-DXB21000510
EK430 (new)DXB-BNE02302220

I wonder how much taxpayer cash is involved. They do this a bit in Victoria also, apparently they gave money to Etihad to increase to daily services. What about the cash they gave them 5 years ago to go double daily?

I wish they’d disclose how long these deals are for. Great news though, Brisbane will only benefit from healthy competition to Singapore Air.

How long does it usually take for these to flow through as available to book with Qantas Rewards after it is announced?

Now just waiting to see when these flights get loaded as I am planning a trip to Dubai and London.

Looks like they're loaded now including awards seats for Emirates. Nothing on Qantas site but this seems to pretty normal these days. It's pretty rare I see any Emirates awards on Qantas, i'm wondering if they've switched availability for Qantas down to 14 days.

EK are mostly releasing award availability last minute these days.

Eg EK will be happy to fly you in first class on a classic reward ... as long as you're willing to depart tonight.

It's unusual for a flight to arrive in DXB from Australia/Asia at 11am. Normally it would be around 1pm, to allow for short connections to the afternoon Europe bank. I wonder if Emirates is planning to add an intermediate stop to this service (e.g. BNE-KUL-DXB) at some point, leaving the BNE departure time as is?

...and pay $1,173 in charges (more if continuing beyond DXB to another destination!)
