Already at gate.
Boarding to commence announcement.
VAd BP didnt want to appear!!!
===
Even if any one had already done OLCI with VAd, always go past the machines and get a papery VAd BP.
===
Saved mine to Drive, didnt work.
Just shown as list of words, no bar code.
Saved to email, didnt work.
Didnt come up, error.
Tried OLCI again at gate, didnt work.
No option to download.
===
Lucky had Aus passport ie photo id, gate agent was already doing BP scanning.
Aus passport shown, and dom BP printed there and then.
Not ever doing check in BP to phone again without paper backup.

Thanks for sharing. Maybe taking a screenshot is an even better option?

There are certain apps that are notoriously unreliable that I always screenshot, Ticketek being the obvious one that comes to mind. But it's probably not a bad habit to get into with boarding passes as well.

Happens to me sometimes, lucky lounge staff are more than happy to print out new ones.
Seems to happen to me often on multi sector itineraries. VA IT being VA IT.

I thought/we always thought, or feel QF is bad.
But, VA seems not much better.
If leaving from ADL, I print BP from home, on paper, and re use the half of the sheet.
VAd is good in the sense that it allows 48 hours prior check in, but, this send/email to phone, of the BP, bu88a, they want us to go with all this paperless, saving them money, or if we print the BP from home/office, it saves them.
But if there is confidence that BP can be stored, why should pax keep using the paper less system.
As I now will go to a VAd booth, its the never loss fail safe method of checking in.
I tend to keep my BP flat, but will now fold it in half, keeping the bar code part straight.
Thought it was only me, thanks for all your feedbacks.
Hope this had helped some others.
I was totally aghast, shocked, when even Google Drive didn't want to bring up the BP, as mentioned above.
Ok, back to normal now.

Can you board VA with only your Velocity card, in the same way you can on QF with your QFF card?

Saving to Apple Wallet always works. Seems to be more reliable and easier than the app.

I just have to remember to remove them once used as I once tried to board with an old BP :)

That is what I will be doing from noe on.
My phone is Android.
The problem is that the flight attendants aren't as familiar with boarding passes on mobile wallets compared to the Virgin app, so it always takes longer to point out the flight and seat numbers to them

Typically we save our boarding passes to our iPhone Apple wallet, then airdrop both passes to our other iphone, effectively having two copies

There were no options, of the 3 dots.
Not sure if this is new with VAd tho.
If it had the 3 dots, then download would usually work.
This time, no 3 dots.
So, couldn't download the BP.
Drive just said, virgin Aust with my name and from where to where, so no bar code,
S21 only had NZ esim, no wifi set up, no Aust data/real sim inside.
Aust sim phone with data access included in prepaid plan, both were not working.
I was already thinking, ... what was going to happen if nothing was able to be done, would I have been stuck.
Thanks to you all.
Will kiosk it from now.

Similar issues with QF. That's why I always have paper BP when I'm flying QF. Never had a problem with VA but may need to start having backup options with them too now.

Not sure about if this "new" thought or idea will work, and its out of this world sort of thought/some say far out, and might not work.
Mobile phones today, the basic ones, can go for $99, even if you don't plant to get a sim for it.
I will try it in Dec when I next fly VAd, is to use my 2nd phone, take that screenshot as mentioned above, and try that.
Ie, a photo of a photo of the OLCI'ed BP.
But have the paper one in a pocket.
Will have it MEL - ADL again.
PS, OffT of titile, ((the new dom security screening at MEL T4 is horrendous, no sign of premium security screening line, only for crew and authorised persons, so what I thought was enough time to get through, was much much longer, as more people have to go through it.
Takes longer now.)) OnT.
