I'm noticing that the E190 flights PER-BME do not offer either PE or J, now and into next year.

Are there two E190 seating configurations? The E190s doing the east coast hops do indeed offer PE at the moment and show it as an option (either PE or J, not sure which) well into next year.

The PER-BME flights show VA as the flight operator, so I doubt it's a Skywest issue and I just thought it odd they have two layouts. The DJ web site shows just one layout (mind you, that hasn't been updated to show the 2 rows of PE over the old 3 rows).

I think what is happening is that there are no plan to offer J on e-jets at the moment and PE may be something they don't want to offer in the future. How far into next year is your booking? could just be a transition anomaly.

I've checked a wide selection of dates from this week, right through to June 2012 and none so far show any seat offering for the "Premium" class on the PER-BME route. I thought it may be the same as you said, an indication of DJs future thoughts for the E190s, but the east coast definitely show PE/J well into next year.

Perhaps it's DJ aligning with Skywest, but it would seem unlikely to me that having some of their E fleet fitted out as PE/J and some not, would just create future dramas like they're currently experiencing with 737 PE (rogues).

The other option of course, is that all PE seats for the next 9 months or so have been sold, but I feel that's highly unlikely.

Has anyone flown on the West Coast routes on a E190 that could confirm if they are currently fitted with PE or not?

I heard on here, and some other similar forums that the E190s would be retrofitted with the new interiors including J class soon as all the 737s are retrofitted. VA is also increasing its E190 fleet by a few jets.

The E190's will be re-configured with the new Y seats, as for J i heard (only rumoured) that J will b a 2-1 or 1-2 layout and Y 2-2. Many other airlines do the same with J with the E190 and other similar aircraft. But for the millionth time saying this: "we will just have to wait and see"

Thanks guys, but I am more interested in whether or not the E190s currently doing the west coast runs are fitted with PE seats right now....not in the future. Surely someone out there has flown on an E190 to Broome recently??

The configs of the west coast Ejets are identical to the east coast aircraft. Premium economy is not sold on intra state WA services as these flights include complimentary drinks and snacks in economy.

All the E190's have the same interior. They just get put wherever they are put for service, eg. VH-ZPA (oldest E190) could do Perth to Newman, then VH-ZPT (Newest E190, in VA colours) could do it the next day.

Ha, now there's the key I was looking for! Thanks for that. So who gets the greater pitch PE seats up front? Luck of the draw or plats, then gold, then silver etc?

There isn't much point to PE on intra-state WA runs at the moment. All travel within WA is full service. No extra food is loaded at all, I can't imagine anybody paying the extra cost for PE to only get several extra inches of legroom, so they aren't selling it.
I would assume that Platinum & Golds get first dibs on the upfront rows.

A friend of mine operated an intra-WA flight today. Everybody onboard was given this meal (choice of two different sandwiches), along with a selection off the drinks cart.

The Virgin Australia sticker is covering up a Virgin Blue logo. Makes me wonder how long ago the food was prepared and sealed.

Hahaha, just probably havent got up to the re-designed packaging yet, and no Liam, its not qantas, its not out of date ;)

I don't know how they go about swapping the E190's in and out of the WA routes, but I suspect the aircraft don't swap around daily.

Haha, we'll never know!

What's the likely reason all intra-state VA flights have an inclusive food and beverage service? I note this is an unpublished benefit and besides the new capital connect services, is unique to intra-WA. Are people working in the resources industry really more discerning than your everyday travellers? Or is this likely a result of contracts with the mining companies? Are we likely to see this rolled out network-wide?

I'd prefer this option over QF's muesli bar and apple or crackers and dip 'refreshment' service anyday....

AFAIK, it's for the FIFO workers who are sooooooo use to having full service, there was a small revolt when they found out it didn't. Now all intra WA flights offer it, and have, for some time, well before DJ turned into VA. I find it strange it isn't published anywhere either.

Well I find it great news that I'm not totally useless. I couldn't work out why they weren't offering the PE fares, but it is now clear and now published. Thanks all, I can sleep easy tonight in my new found knowledge

Really wish theyd just make the whole thing full service, the flying 7-11 look doesn't go with the new interiors. ;)

Considering the new & refitted aircraft have full service galleys (compared to LCC galleys, designed to sell food, not cook meals) it wouldn't surprise me if they go full service within the next 12mths.

Just depends on the timetable, maintenance and all those other factors.
