Hi Guys, I was looking at Emirates Europe early bird fares to plan for next year travel, when I stumbled upon their special offer page and saw this promotion

http://fly.emirates.com/CUGO/CUGOLandingPage.aspx?target=/CUGO.aspx&pub=/au/english&s=&h=78b7bddcd6817b3975c0345645f648fa86c1ffec&ibe=

Offer is exclusive for Emirates Citibank Platinum Card only. I believe the 20% off companion even applies to the early bird fares. Looks like a steal and winner deal to me.

Anyone has any experience with the Emirates Citibank Platinum though ? My cousin has one, and he has been bragging about it. earning him 1.5 Miles / $, so he has been racking up 80,000 Miles in one year (he got like 20,000 as bonus for signing up last year) and looking forward to upgrading his flights to Europe to business with his Miles next year.

The problem with this card is the generous earning rate stops at 150,000 points for each year.
To travel exclusively on points to far flung places is pretty restricted unless you have either 2 or more cards in the family and more than a year to get set.
Maybe you could upgrade a purchased ticket.

Thanks for the input cove, much appreciated

but 150,000 annually means $100,000 spend a year right ? sounds like more than what I can spend. I last checked, it only takes 90,000 to redeem to europe. But Skywards has not been clear on whether there is any "budgeted" redemption seats in any flights (much like qantas, which seems like it is almost impossible to redeem flights even if you have millions of miles)

Yes I think it is $100,000 spend for the 150,000 points and please note I don't have this card...so I am relying on the terms and conditions that can change since i last read them.
