Emirates qantas code share

Hi guys, am newbie here but if i book an Emirates flight to europe from australia and book under QF code share will only be my aus dubai flight under codeshare or also dubai - europe?

If its all QF code all the way, you will earn QFF points and QFF SC as if on a QF plane.
If for some reason, the plane is subbed out, ie, you get onto an EK plane, without the QF code, from DXB - Europe, then you might have to keep BP and claim ORC.
I assume its all a rev fare.
Oh, and welcome on board AFF Airlines.
So, in the end, it all depends on circumstances.
===
If its all on the one PNR, you should keep all benefits, ie, the "codeshare" should be all the way to Europe.
But its hard to say, what will happen, as my crystal ball is on the blink.
Best of luck!

Emirates qantas code share

Hi guys, am newbie here but if i book an Emirates flight to europe from australia and book under QF code share will only be my aus dubai flight under codeshare or also dubai - europe?
It depends. Some flights out of Dubai you won't be able to book codeshare. That happened with us a few years ago. Into Venice. Travelling in December on Emirates and all of our flights are QF code. That's into Amsterdam.

Be very clear with your TA you only want QF code wherever possible and check the booking before you pay.

BP is boarding pass. PNR is the six digit booking reference. ORC - original routing credit to claim these if you experience a change in flights not instigated by you - eg missed connection. Always keep Boarding passes in case.

Ooo, us and our acroymns, sorry to anyone reading and not knowing.
There is an acronym demistyfyer on here somewhere, I think.
Rev fare is when you pay with gold, or what we call as it, money.
There is the opt to pay with points on some flights, once you have enough in your QFF account.
Flying EK Y can be hard, oops, just saw you are flying EK J, is a nicer airline than some, if you get the 380 all the way, it can be a pain, but at least its wide, and you can walk quite a lot downstairs to stretch the legs...
Compared to a compact QF 787, good choice you choice EK.
Good, EK J, best one of them all, have done it several times SYD - CHC.
===
J is airline speak for the main business class, but there are subclasses of it too, C,D,I, and J.
Your TA (travel agent) should be able to give you the codes of each sector/segment, if you write it down and pass it to us, we can work out how many QFF points and QFF SC you will earn, and what tier status you will be when you get back.
---
With the change of CEO at QF, there might be minor or major changes to QF/QFF and the partnership with EK, hope of course, things stay the same as it is now, but its very hard to say for sure.
VH (Venessa Hudson is the new CEO at QF, we use codes on here too much, AJ is the previous CEO, we had a love hate relationship with the guy/person).
===
You would probably (edit) very closely make QFF SG in the first year, if you do succeed in getting it as QF J on the EK flight all the way there and back.
QFF has a status calculator.
DiscJ SYD - DXB - 360 QFF SC. return
DiscJ DXB - LHR - 200 QFF SC. return
Thought it was more than this, sorry.
But flexJ or true J will earn you more SC.

wow thanks so much for both your replies.

so my route would likely be.
EK J class
MEL - DXB - HAM
HAM - DXB - MEL

any recommendations on which plane to take?

Try for the 380 where possible. 777 has two seats together while 380 has single seats so everyone has aisle access. Good on long flights. Plus there's the lounge to get out of the seat for a while.

The 380 is great. I always try and get a window ‘inny’ because they’ve got 2 bins for your personal use.
the middle seats don’t have them

on the 777, I go for the central seats (but aisle) because that middle seat is usually empty.

I'm another vote for the EK 380 between Dubai and Europe. We flew on QF code share Nov22/Jan 23 from MEL to DXB visit to our son, then DXB to MUC, trip around Europe, then BUD to DXB (on a B777) and visit our son and then finally home. All these flights were QF code share, so full FF points and SC. We definitely preferred the 380 that we had on all legs except BUD-DXB.

so assuming i am only getting QF codeshare to MEL-DXB and same on the way back. Am i correct that, on J class, i ll be rewarded with 190 SC one way. that would mean 380 for both legs.

i don’t usually fly qantas but SQ so I am bronze member with only 130 SC

if i do earn the 380 on top this will only bring me to 510. not enough to reach Gold.

now my question. Is it possible to call qantas and request a tier accelerator promo? if yes how many SC will I need for their typical promo to reach gold/platinum?

Assuming that you do make it to have QF code all the way, even though EK metal, (its about 580 QFF this trip in discJ), all the way to the UK.
If for some reason, EK puts you onto a flight with a non QF flight number, or on a partner that is not in OW (OneWorld/not in QFF, then no QFF points and no QFF SC).
That is in the first instance, but you do have a second step, called ORC (original routing credit), which is the flight plan you actually paid for, and 95% of the time, you have a "right" to the QFF SC & QFF SC you should earn.
EK flights, with an EK flight number does earn a small amount of QFF points, but no SC...
But keep your BP, photocopy them onto A4 at hotel, or friends place, as BP can fade over time!
One note: the APD UK dep tax/charges for business & first class will be very high, will have to be included in the fare, dep UK, its a financial killer.
580 discJ + 130 (what you have) = 710, that will still be 40 short of reaching SG, you need 750 in the first instance.
If you paid a bit more, and got flexJ, then its a climb close to SG tresh hold.
All depends on a lot of parameters.
No use calling QF as a NB/PS, (no status Red), as you will be put to their lowly South Africa/Manila/Suva call center.
You will enjoy J, but to attain SG, you need to fly a lot more than just this trip, put more emphasis onto QFd flights too, or QFi Au - NZ.
EK J is very good, and when you check in, you can use the business counter, in most cases with OLCI (online check in & just need passport swipe), you check in experience will be better than in Y on this long haul.
90% of the time, we hope, you will succeed in getting a QF code all the way to the UK, and then back.
But anything can happen.
===
Edit: ah, sorry, didn't see the middle replies, ok, so not UK J dep, which is good, as it will save $.
===
As Pushka put in, because the DXB - HAM also carries the QF flight number, you will earn more than just the 380.
We also code the 380 on here, as to the plane, not just to mean the QFF SC earnt!
===
O, SG to reach is 700 QFF SC, thought it was 750.
Ask the TA to put you in flexJ, will be $$$$$$$$, but hey, you only enjoy this trip maybe once in J/F.
The lounges in DXB is a one time in your life exp, I hven't done DXB, but have done the MEL and SYD EK lounges, the salmon even for breakfast is to "die" for.
Flex J will put very close to SG reach level, with your current 130 QFF SC, assuming it does not run out till after you get back.

Agree with this completely.
I avoid the 777 if I can, absolutely horrible seats and I’d even go as far as fly into a different city to avoid them. Obviously that’s not always possible with peoples schedules

So to improve your SC you might want to look for cities in Europe that EK have a hide share with QF and then get a connecting flight or a train. We got code share to a Munich. I suspect you could get code share to Amsterdam which is pretty close to Hamburg.

i thought dxb - ham is codeshared? from what @AustraliaPoochie was saying?

Yeah. I thought that the EK flight DXB - HAM carrying the QF flight number, was a code share, maybe my pooch - English tramslator isn't too flash.
Don't know what a "hideshare" is tho.
===
Maybe Jase05's view, is fly to a city that EK flies their 380, and then land transport from there to Hamburg, seeing quite a number have said to avoid the 777.
I have done both the 380 MEL & SYD to AKL, also the 777 SYD - CHC and back, short hauls only, so can't say about the 777 long distance.
Maybe long haul, the 777 even is EK J is not as good.

I don't know - had not checked that for you - sorry I'm a bit under the weather at the moment, and thought that someone had said this leg was NOT code share. Just looked at @Pushka's post up thread and it clearly is code share

Regardless of my thick head, please just check for yourself and with your TA that you book on codes hare flights. If you do that, and with the SC you already have, you should all but outright qualify for Gold with this trip.

And you are very wise to double check things people (like me!) say that don't make sense to you - sometimes we just stuff it up!
