Emirates surcharges fifth freedom flights

Found something interesting. Are the award seat surcharges on EK booked using QF points much less than flights going through Dubai for fifth freedom flights? Singapore to Melbourne is circa $100 in F which seems very cheap. Flight was ticketed with no issues I just want to make sure there isn't a problem

Yes, this is often the case on fifth-freedom routes. I also booked a SIN-MEL award the other day and the charges were under $100 for F.
