Etihad and Malaysian Airlines get together

I get the feeling from chatting with various EY people over the last couple of years that OW is their eventual goal or aspiration.

Would definitely be a welcome edition in my mind given what a great offering they have product wise.

In that case, what does that mean for VA?

Of course a couple of months ago it was AA and EY getting closer.

I think it wouldn't be bad for EY to join an alliance to broaden their network

I would love Etihad to join an alliance, but their current alliances makes that complicated. The closest alliance they have is with Virgin Australia who is allied with Delta (skyteam) on their transpacific routes.

I noticed on the Etihad website you can't book first class awards on Malaysian?

First class on Malaysian is only available on their B747-400s which fly to SYD, LHR and AMS (from KUL, of course).

Malaysia Airlines

If Malaysian are joining OW, what does this mean for Etihad ?

I thought that was interesting too, given that this partnership was finalised after MH confirmed their entry into OW. Could EY perhaps be moving a step closer to OW? It would be complicated given the rather comprehensive arrangement they have with VA...

Things change and can change again.

QF had a nice thing going with EY before VA cuckolded them ...
I thought the only arrangement QF had with EY was the code-share flight to AUH. It was nothing compared to the comprehensive arrangement that VA have with EY now.

Levels of association are not relevant IMHO, things can, and do, change.

The multicultural airline dating game!

Just as in life, things do change.

Agree Serfty.
