This is going to make for some interesting ferry flights.

Will probably be cheaper for/under VA3 (Bain's watch), but will raise a lot of heckles.
And no one saw this coming?
Routings to get the planes up there, (((BNE - SIN - DEL - AUH)))?/(((BNE - KUL/BKK - DEL - AUH)))?
Refueling.

Was VA's B737 previous heavy maintenance done in-house in Australia or in Singapore or The Phillippines? I think they still have a maintenance base in BNE and MEL for the routine stuff?

Its incredibly difficult to find out exactly who's and what aircraft go for maintenence where. I expect this is deliberate, as most Australian airlines like to advertise/virtue signal their "Aussie-ness" when it suits them, but aircraft going overseas for heavy maintenance doesn't exactly suit their narrative - even though I understand that the economics of it dictates that the heavy stuff is done overseas.

It's quite surprising how far operators will fly aircraft to do heavy maintenance to save a few bucks. Especially considering that international borders are still closed so it wouldn't be a picnic to organize ferry crew at the moment.

Just had a read of the link.
Quite a short bit.
Maybe for the time being, they might bring their staff down to Aust, which will rile up even more of the LAME section of the ALAEA membership.
Maybe more strikes are imminent.
As an aside, does this mean there is hope yet for a liaison with Etihad airlines as a co partner FF wise?
Time will tell.

If I recall, the Heavy Maintenance was done in Singapore through SIA, as well as some done in ANZES (Air NZ) prior to the NZ partnership breakup. Open to correction on the details here.

So from 1 (failed) former part owner/operator of VA to another (failed) former part owner/operator of VA.

Even after the NZ breakup it was still done in NZ, most of of the split winglet aircraft were fitted in CHC (some newer in HKG).

Otherwise Seltar which I don't believe was SIA but some other Singapore operation?

ST Engineering?
I believe that is also 50.5% owned by SIA's parent company Temasek Holdings, Pte Ltd. So technically, a sister company of Singapore Airlines Pte Ltd.

On a related note, ST Engineering also won the MRO part of VA's 737 maintenance contract.

Did VA1 ever do any heavy in Australia? I thought it was just the tick and flick stuff here, rest was exported overseas. Could be wrong.
