Etihad Plane (EY461) has issue after takeoff - Melbourne

Yep we saw it from our backyard. Dumping fuel and flying by..standard procedure for whatever reason.

Today's Melbourne heat 33° got to someone??

I'd say there's a slight difference between

ETIHAD PLANE IN TROUBLE

and

'there seems to be an issue.. it's circling over the bay and dumping fuel'

Did they light up the fuel they dumped, like an F-111?
Not on this occasion.

Saab 34 says there was talk of an engine issue. I would consider engine issues on a two-engine plane trouble, and the manufacturer agrees.

There was a situation requiring a return to the field—the first flight was clocked departing at 7.06 pm and returning at 8.24 pm round, so it was in the air for only 1.18hrs

The second go at this was a 23.28 departure for a DOH arrival at 0611 - 13.43 hours duration.

If I find more information, I'll provide it for you.

Well it ended up departing 2328pm local after an assumed engineering check. Sure will be one heck of a long duty for the crew.

Would the same crew really be allowed to operate MEL-AUH with a duty time 5 hours longer than planned?
