Etihad Status Bonus

Was planning on making a booking with Etihad.

Does anyone know if you get a status bonus on your velocity FF points when making a booking with Etihad? On the other Virgin airlines, on Malaysia etc. there is a 20% bonus for silver and 40% bonus for gold for both points and SCs.

There's no mention of this for Etihad so i assume it doesn't exist but i thought i would check. Seems to be a bit of anomaly given the promise of reciprocity for the two programs - the Etihad program offers bonuses to its own high tier FFs and it is offered on several other DJ partner airlines.

But strangely doesn't say it on the velocity etihad page... I would have thought you would... Any better if you book it through the V Australia web page?
Are you considering a stop over in Abu Dhabi? I am off there tomorrow night on the Etihad codeshare flight from MEL.. FYI I found better pricing when searching through the V Australia site.. It was cheaper to fly business to CDG than to AUH... Same flights and everything....

Sorry and embarrassed to say we had a typo - someone mistakenly added the three words "and status credits" where they should not have been. Yet. As noted earlier status recognition/lounge access with a network of international airlines is a very high priority for JB and discussions are in progress.

The typo lasted about 3 days. If any members alert us that they made bookings on these airlines based on this mistake we will work out how to make amends. Apologies again for the false start.

Although it looks surprisingly similar to the previous issues that you mentioned back in July 2010.... Perhaps crazydave can help with an explanation again... Seems very inconsistent... Same isse with MH... under the explanation of status is specifically talks about the status credit bonus but on the Earn page for MH, no mention of status... Crazy Dave ?

Slightly off topic a mate needs 4K in points to hit Gold in the Etihad Program.

What is the cheapest way to achieve this?

I hadn't noticed that but very well spotted. Hopefully one the Velocity team will be around to clarify it in coming days.

I actually can't book the flight from the VA page as it's not originating in Australia. It's an Asia to North America flight in J for June. Will be a very good points and Status Credit earner for the price but even better if i get the 50% bonus. If i don't get the bonus i'm half tempted to credit it to Etihad as it would get me 3/5 of the way to gold with them.

Probably will do a stopover in AUH but probably not until June. I haven't really compared the VA site to the Etihad one but you get these anomalies all the time i guess.
