That made me laugh...as I live in dread of scratching a rental car:lol:

Tell me about it. My company insists on using Europcar and they managed to con/get $110 out of me again for marks on a car recently that I don't believe I caused.

I go over any rental car really thoroughly before I drive off and point each one out to them and get them marked on the form, just because I would find it incredibly annoying to be charged money for something I didn't do.

I know I'm being a pain to them by insisting on doing that, but I can't resist it. Saying that, I would hate to be in a hurry - if I hire a car, I tend to have quite a bit of time (leisure trip), but I can fully sympathise with those who would need to pick up the car and go due to time constraint.

Over the years I have had several additional charges applied after returning rental cars, though I am yet to hire from Europcar.

In each case I have had to provide a Statuary declaration in order to have these charges reversed. The important thing here is that they were reversed.

I do however, thoroughly check the vehicle before driving off (FWIW, this includes the fuel gauge).
