I'm just about to clock up my 40th Europcar rental which should give me Elite VIP. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of how they deal with the status change. Does the view date rest to the date you receive the status upgrade? Europcar status is now over a 2 year period, so will I have two years from VIP attain date to requal?

No takers on this one, eh?

I've found the Ts&Cs and it reads to me like the review date remain fixed. A bit like the QF model of loyalty scheme rather than the VA model.

Here are the specific terms....

6. Privilege credits A Privilege Member switches from one Tier level to another in proportion of his/her Privilege Credits.
After his/her enrollment to the Program, the Privilege Member automatically becomes a Privilege Club Member and starts earning Privilege Credits to reach the Privilege Executive status.
Privilege Members qualify for the Privilege Executive status when they reach either 10 (ten) Qualifying Rentals or 40 (forty) Qualifying Days over a tier level validity period.
Privilege Members qualify for the Privilege Elite status when they reach either 25 (twenty-five) Qualifying rentals or 85 (eighty five) Qualifying Days over a tier level validity period.
Privilege Members qualify for the Privilege Elite VIP status when they reach either 40 (forty) Qualifying Rentals or 130 (hundred and thirty) Qualifying Days over a tier level validity period.
6.1. Privilege Status / Tier level upgrade
Each Privilege Member can have his/her Tier level upgraded as soon as he/she reaches the necessary number of Privilege Credits. This number can be reached either by reaching the necessary number of Qualifying Days or the necessary number of Qualifying Rentals over a tier level validity period. The Privilege Member will benefit from this new Tier level as soon as he/she reaches the necessary amount of Privilege Credits and for the end of the current tier level validity period as well as for the following one.
A Privilege Member may be upgraded to the next Tier level during his/her Tier Level validity period

I can add a little bit more to this thread, in case it is of interest to anyone.

As most would be aware, Europcar changed to a two year status period some time ago, but I could not work out how they would deal with the status review date.

I made VIP (after some stuff ups on Europcars part, I might say) in late March this year. My two year status review date was 6 Sep 2016. I note on my most recent statement/news letter (arrived today), that my new status review date is 24 Mar 2018 so they have given me VIP for two years from the date of status jump. That's pretty good IMHO.

I'm still unsure about one thing though. My tally did not reset in March and it's continuing to grow, so I'm confused as to how that works. Theoretically, for them to give me the whole two years to retain status, the tally should have reset in March so I could start building toward the 40 rental mark to retain VIP, but it looks like the rentals between 24 Mar 2016 and 6 Sep 2016 will be lost to a black hole as I'm now wondering if it will reset on my old review date of 6 Sep 2016 or whether there is a hidden rolling tally concept like VA..... Who knows!

EDIT: Actually, in re-reading clause 6.1 above, it specifically states
The Privilege Member will benefit from this new Tier level as soon as he/she reaches the necessary amount of Privilege Credits and for the end of the current tier level validity period as well as for the following one.
.
At the risk of sounding greedy, I'm thinking my "new" status date of 24 Mar 2018 should not be. It should be 6 Sep 2018, surely? 6.1 states clearly the member benefits from the status boost for the balance of the members current status period as well as the whole of the next one.

The actual wording on the news letter I received today is
Tier level end date: 24/03/18
. I'm thinking, given the stuff up that occurred in March, this new date is simply another mistake. Would anyone care to speculate?
