Europe Flight cancellation Rights

Hi AFF'ers. I know there is an answer to this but gosh knows where. I've just been notified of an Alitalia Flight cancellation in July and redirect to a flight which of course, we can't make. Even if there was no Covid we still could not make it as it is several hours (7) earlier than the original flight and we wouldn't have been there. We hadn't cancelled as it was a non refundable flight and trying to call them is impossible and we couldn't cancel online. Help?

Well their website basically allows for people like me due to Covid crises. I am claiming on Insurance anyway.

That's hurdle one out of the way (someo ther European airlines are only offering vouchers).

It does appear you need to contact them prior to departure. Their website has a number of booking contacts, Europe, USA, Asia. Perhaps try toll free via Skype to the USA?
