Everyday Rewards NZ

So in Australia, A$1000 spend gets you A$10 discount
In NZ, NZ$2000 gets you NZ$15 discount, which is the same as A$1000 spend for A$7.50 discount.
Would not surprise me if they are keeping the option option of making it a single currency between both countries, and members can redeem in either country.

15% GST on everything in NZ vs 10% GST in AU, with some food items exempt
1 AUD = 1.07833 NZD
Supermarket grocery items in NZ a lot more than in AU. More than 8% difference

Off topic
NZ is mentioned in the AU constitution.
"The Constitution gives New Zealand the option to join Australia. Covering clause 6 of the Constitution states New Zealand may be admitted into Australia as a state. (Section 121 provides the rules on how new states would be admitted."

Looks like the NZ program will share an app with the Australian one.

Interesting, I wonder if Countdown will take the in app Aussie Woolworths Rewards card?

I was thinking 1000 QF points = $10 discount.
1,000 QF points is worth more than $10, in general (of course it could be worth a lot less too).

I mean 2000 ER points = 1000 QF points = $10 discount

I think the value of QF points is around 1.8c so that's closer to $18.

Indeed, $10 discount is the fixed amount, QF points can vary wildly. I personally value them at 2c, as that's been a floor value for redemptions in recent years (vs what I'd actually pay for the flight), but I'm sure some get more/less than that.

But in Aus you dont have to spend anywhere near $2k to earn 2k EDR points.

The subscription which costs $35 for 13 months (1 month free and then $35 for first year) doubles your points (so halves the spend needed) then there are the endless boosters and bonus points.

Im sure similar boosters at countdown in NZ.

Very true. I've been a member since it was $59 for triple points and 10% off twice a month (unofficially), I got the three month free extension when they made the changes (so 16 months all in), then was going to cancel and see what/if I was offered anything, but as great timing goes, the $35 offer arrives and now both OH and I are members. Paid for itself already, so the extra points are "free".

Woolworths scrambles to close loophole after shoppers register multiple cards to gain points
A loophole in the new Woolworths Everyday Rewards loyalty programme has seen some shoppers create burner accounts and claim hundreds of dollars in points to spend in-store.

A generous 1000 points for downloading the app and registering an account has seen people create multiple accounts to claim the reward. The points were then shared back to the main account. A $15 voucher to spend in-store or online was given for every 2000 points. <snip>He said Woolworths had since shut the loophole by disabling the ability to share points between cards.
<snip>
The "Boost" programme, available through the app or online, meant customers could earn extra points for buying certain products or brands or spending in a particular area in-store, such as the produce or fresh meat sections.

Boosted offers were tailored to the individual and based on what shoppers had purchased in the past. A box of 100 Bell teabags was one of the boosted items for some this week, with 200 points on offer. To get the points, you need to hit the "Boost" button online or on the app before you shop and include the product in your groceries. The 200 points are added to your card when you go through the checkout. Another 600 points were available to collect if more than $45 was spent on meat. A shopper could earn more than the 2000 points needed for a $15 voucher by buying their 14 boosted items, which could include anything from teabags and stain remover to frozen vegetables and sugar.
<snip>
Wolfenden said apart from a few "teething issues", the switch to Everyday Rewards on 1 February had gone smoothly. "We've seen amazing uptake by members and hundreds of thousands of people have downloaded the app," he said. "It's great to see how our members are engaging with the programme
<snip>
The ability to share the fuel discount over several cards was useful.

While I have registered have yet to shop Countdown/Woolworths NZ. Nor have received any booster emails. Being able to transfer to QF, like in AU, would be good. Can only hope.

So in the end, (on the rewards side), (as I do go to NZ often) they still need a physical NZ address.
So (still) no point joining the NZ EDR system, as an Aussie who visits often.
And no long term NZ address I can use anyway.
So its still a separate system, eh?
So still a disadvantage for us cross border residents.
Pity.

Everyday rewards Woolworths NZ
NZ Herald -->Woolworths’ rewards scheme announces new air points partnerships
Shoppers at Woolworths will soon be able to use its rewards scheme to buy airline points but it will require a hefty spend on groceries to get on a flight.

From December 2, Kiwis will be able to convert their everyday rewards points to Air New Zealand airpoints dollars or Qantas points. When members reach 2000 everyday rewards points they can choose to convert these to 15 airpoints dollars or 1500 Qantas points. A Woolworths spokesperson confirmed that customers earn one point for every dollar spent meaning shoppers may need to spend up to $2000 to get 2000 everyday rewards points.
<snip>
Will be interesting to see Everyday rewards Woolworths NZ and Everyday rewards Woolworths AU can both credit to Qantas ffp. Expect it will.

Woolworths Everyday NZ is not as generous with boosters as Woolworths Everyday AU. But 2 days ago I did get a "spend $50 this week and collect 1,000 points" from Everyday rewards NZ. First time ever. Have not used Everyday rewards NZ card in WW NZ for many months.

In AU 2000 everyday rewards points converts to 1000 Qantas points, so better ratio.
On normal spend (without boosters)
In NZ $2000 = 2000 EDR points = $15 discount or 1500 QF points or $15 AirNZairpoints
In AU $2000 = 2000 EDR points = $10 discount or 1000 QF points

Edit
Associated thread (on a different topic)--> Everyday Rewards can now be earned for Woolies spends in both Australia and New Zealand

So I wonder how many Aussies will look to get a NZ card to use on the weeks there are no EDR bonus offers, given the superior QFF redemption rates?

Close to nil. Most people would know is an Woolworths EDR in both countries.
Probably not that many like me who spend time in NZ & AU (40% & 60%)
For me boosters bump EDR balance.
Boosters do not work trans Tasman. Just normal spend

But boosters and bonus offers are becoming increasingly rare (maybe 1 week a month) so on the weeks where you need to shop and there aren't offers a NZ card is a better placed to store the base points as offer 50% more QFF points.
