Greetings QFFAFFers!

Me? Long-term occasional QF flyer; short-term QFF Gold about-to-become Platinum (for one year anyway); shorter-term AFF reader; first-time poster.

Firstly, many thanks to all contributors to this forum who, in the last couple of months, have provided me with much insight into this dark art. ;)

To share my first post-AFF dabbling with you ... I've recently booked some J fares for PER-MEL-BNE-NOU and return NOU-SYD-ADL-PER at ~$2383, yielding 420 SCs = ~$5.67 per SC. I gather that rate doesn't match other offerings in North America, but seemed like a respectable bit of bang for buck, especially given that we wanted to holiday in New Caledonia anyway. Maybe a trip to NOU wouldn't stack up as well from the eastern seaboard, but it looks OK from this side. Well, apart from the red-eye out of PER, that is.

Any comments, observations, criticisms, pointers to better deals, howls of outrageous laughter most welcome!

Welcome to AFF arraitch :D

That's not a bad run from the west coast, thanks for the information.

Looks pretty good, considering travel to the East Coast vv can easily set you back $450 for only 40SC.

I haven't priced it since April, but the SIN-BKK-HKG return in J on CX yields good value, and would be in easy striking distance from PER.

Thanks, serfty, Oneworldplus2 and jpk, for your welcome, comments and suggestion. SIN-BKK-HKG on CX looks like an interesting idea. I'd previously noted some references from JohnK regarding this option; a quick look reveals return fares of ~$2900, but with some difficulty in selecting other than direct routing. I'll do some more reading and searching real soon!:D
