Excluding Jetstar from Qantas Search?

Sadly I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is anyone aware of a way to filter out jetstar flights from the qantas award booking engine?

I'm trying to find a J award seat to NRT and it is an excursion into frustation as the few available seats are hard to locate as they are drowned out by the always available starclass seats. So basically every day shows availability - click through - no just starclass - click to next date - repeat etc.

The same issue happens booking flights from MEL-SIN return in Y, the variable date search (which shows the cheapest available fare for each date) includes Jetstar, hence it is a trial and error process to find the cheapest flights solely on QF (or QF codeshare on BA).

However for SIN-MEL return flights it does not show the Jetstar flights!

I wrote some feedback to QF about this, but no response.

What a great idea, but sadly, the commercial reality is this will never happen.

I share your frustration when booking domestic flights, either paid tickets or award tickets, from Perth to Sydney where the only carrier I want is QF but Jestar flights are included.

I believe there are some AFFers here who have used a free 15 day trial to expert flyer that can give a wider range of ff redemption availability.

Whether or not excluding JQ starclass from a search I'm not sure.

Might be worth giving the free trial a go & see what results you do get.

Cheers

I've also been looking for flights to NRT. A related problem I've experienced is that the results for the same day can be variable depending on the search type, multicity vs return vs oneway. So that sometimes I search and QF flights SYD-NRT will be available and then for the next search 1 minute later only jetstar flights show, when i've just been offered a QF flight for the same date/time.
I can't remember if this was just for paid flight searches or also for award flights.

I have also encountered JQ flights in the search engine when trying to book SYD/MEL-SIN flights.

Why are Jetstar flights included in searches anyway? Qantas arrogance assumes that we all want to see the Jetstar flights option. I wonder how many people have given up and booked JQ flights instead when they could not see any QF flights?

Perhaps the best option is to call Qantas sales daily and ask them to check availability and keep mentioning that you cannot see availability as too many JQ flights are appearing on the search.

Also if enough people submit feedback something may be done to fix it.

That's why I do not like Qantas. They really need to change.

Earlier last month I was searching for SYD-NRT for mid April, it always shows available but when going to details it is always JetStar. The points requirements is the same and yet you don't get food/entertainment/blanket/luggage transfer (at OOL/CNS). To me it is just a way for QF to rip off customers. Some customers who knows nothing would end up redeeming on JQ and then complain to QF when they realised they don't get all the things they get from full service carrier, and QF can then point at their T&Cs etc etc etc ......

At the end I ended up redeeming in SQ on Y, even though their tax is expensive, and it is out of the way from flying direct (flying 14 hours instead of 9 hours), but at least they have flights available, and not on LCCs.

Well it's soothing to know that I'm not the only one bugged by this. I've sent some feedback to Qantas about it.

Just more blurring of the line when is and isn't Jetstar a completely seperate entity.

When it costs the same amount of QFF points to book JQ flights as it does to book QF flights.

With one you get nothing with the other you get full service, flexibility and reliability....

I have not found any real unreliability with Jetstar International and for a daytime flight would have no concern using StarClass . The service on JQ Starclass isnt bad

I have to agree with this.

But on the other hand. I would compare it at the same level at QF J. If it requited 75% of the points of a QF J award. I would say that would be fair. But I do not think you could call them equal at all.

Sorry in my post above, I misread the nature of the OP's post!

For award bookings, I am not as fussed (although it still a nuisance), for MEL-SIN type flights, the travel times (on Jetstar via DRW) are usually longer than flights via SYD and certainly longer than flights direct! Therefore hovering pointer over particular date it brings up time and number of connections, and therefore you get a reasonable idea of which airline is operating the flight.

I was referring to paid flights bringing up JQ pricing in multiple date searching - this I find completely annoying, if I want to pay for a JQ fare I will go to the JQ site not the QF site. They should have a button on the search screen that allows you to exclude JQ flights (both the JQ through flights and any domestic connections to SYD).
