I am trying out ExpertFlyer because you have made me curious.

I am sure this is a basic question but what reasons are there for blocked versus occupied seats on my flight tomorrow morning?

It's the 7am SYD-MEL bus (QF409) so I imagine it will be full. Some seats are occupied but many are not. There's only a couple of available seats.

Is the difference here that 'occupied' seats are where people have checked in while 'blocked' seats expect to have someone's backside on them but these people have not yet checked in?

This enquiring mind wants to know...

Thanks, pw.

I asked a similar question today. The answer is that we don't know. Some are blocked because they are reserved by QF for special people (CL/P1) but they have yet to be allocated. Some are blocked to leave a gap between a special person and the stinking filth in the rest of the cabin. Some are occupied.

We think X means blocked not allocated.

It doesn't have anything to do with who has already checked in. However some of those free seats might be grabbed by people checking in.

Well, that'll teach me to search before asking. I am off to read your thread. Thanks for the info.
