Hi Everyone,

I am new and have a question about the 5000 point reward for flying to the UK. I am doing a trip in September flying from
MEL - HKK
HKK - NRT
NRT - HKK
HKK- LHR
LHR - ATH
then continuing onto America. All the flights above will be completed in September.
I have tried to check which flights are eligible but haven't been able to get far.
Do you think I meet the criteria to get the extra 5000 points?

Thanks

Welcome to AFF, delsbells.

The promotion you mention has the following conditions:

I'm posting the full copy here to discuss your points:

Qantas said:
You could earn 5,000 extra points with oneworld when you:

travel on an eligible* Qantas or British Airways flight between Australia and London or Frankfurt via Hong Kong, Singapore or Bangkok.
connect with an eligible* oneworld partner flight on British Airways, Finnair, Aer Lingus or Iberia to anywhere else in the United Kingdom or Europe.^

To earn the extra 5,000 points you need to:

* be an Australian resident Frequent Flyer.
* register online~ before you travel.

Extra points will be awarded once per member regardless of the number of qualifying trips you take.

Valid for travel from 1 August until 31 October 2005.

* For eligible flights, see Section 9.3.1. of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions.
^ You must fly Qantas or British Airways to Frankfurt or London and connect to a oneworld partner for travel within the United Kingdom or Europe to earn the extra 5,000 points. Award flight bookings do not qualify for extra points.
~ You only need to register once and the 5,000 extra points will only be awarded once. Points will be awarded irrespective of class travelled or Frequent Flyer tier status. Points will be credited to your account by 30 November 2005. Travel must be commenced and completed within the validity period stated.
This offer is only valid for current Australian resident Qantas Frequent Flyer members. Only Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn points in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. A joining fee applies.
Destination and passenger enquiries: You should enquire about local issues and conditions at your destination prior to travel. Qantas makes no representations as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including local government, local consular offices and the website of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

where Section 9.3.1 of the QFF T&C's read:

QFF T&C's said:
9.3.1 Subject to clauses 9.3.2 and 9.4, Points for air travel may be earned only for paid travel on regular scheduled flights where a Qantas flight number (or the flight number of any oneworld Alliance Airline or Airline Partner not excluded under clause 9.4) is entered on the ticket ('Eligible Flight').

So now let's look at whether you meet the conditions:

1. I'm sure you have registered for the promotion (dumb question I know  )
2. Hopefully you're flying QF or BA metal (metal = own planes, not codeshared) as you didn't mention which carrier you are flying with on these sectors. You are flying "between Australia and London...via Hong Kong" (in accordance with the terms above). The fact that you have the HKG/NRT/HKG flight should be immaterial. You are flying MEL/HKG...HKG/LHR - that satisfies the terms of the promotion. They don't have to be through flights, just two flights taken on QF and/or BA
3. Hopefully you're then flying on either BA, AY (Finnair), EI (Aer Lingus) or IB (Iberia) to ATH. Certainly, ATH is in Greece and from all my research, Greece is in Europe
4. You met the dates criteria as your flights are between 1 August and 31 October.

Enjoy the extra 5,000 points...which should be credited to your account by 30 November 2005
