From 2 April, the 6th ATR will be brought into service and will operate a lunchtime flight to Emerald (such that Emerald's schedule is quite similar to Gladstone's) (Source: Virgin's booking system)

BNE 1245
EMD 1440
EMD 1510
BNE 1655

The morning and evening flight times remain unchanged. The introduction of this additional service begs the question of what this aircraft will be doing in the morning and the evening...? Will we see an additional flight or two to Gladstone? Or perhaps will we see a new destination launched out of Brisbane? Bundaberg? Moranbah? Hervey Bay? Roma? Or maybe something a bit out of left field like Coffs or Dubbo?

And to have a little whinge...why can't we get somewhere new in regional NSW out of Sydney? Tamworth? Wagga? Armidale? Dubbo? Seriously, Tamworth really needs some competition given the rather full flights and ridiculous pricings on the more popular flights - even months in advance.

Looks like VA is trying to cash in on the mining boom.

Great to see them keeping QF honest on prices.
