Hi brains trust
Quick one - I have a booking in October for SYD-BKK return and I have paid for using points exit row seating for the flight from BKK to SYD (35,000 QFF points for the 2 of us).
Of course I paid for the exit row seating on Sunday, and the current sale to Asia started today.
I am thinking of cancelling my booking (and requesting a refund) and making a new booking in Premium Economy at the sale fare.

So my question is - does anyone have experience when cancelling a flight and requesting a refund, where there has been extra legroom seats booked using points? Were the points refunded or is it a lost cause?
I did check the Qantas website and it has the below, but I am still not 100% clear (and I am reluctant to call the call centre of course as I fear I will get 2 different answers from 2 different people).
Thanks heaps!
  • Seat selection is non-refundable unless:
  1. Qantas changes your seat for operational, safety or security reasons (even after boarding the aircraft), and we are unable to seat you in a suitable alternative.
  2. There is a flight disruption causing you to be moved to another flight and Qantas is unable to seat you in a suitable alternative on your new flight.
  3. Qantas moves you to a flight not operated by Qantas.
  4. Your fare is refunded (including where you are entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law).
