Most people should have seen this promotion.

5,000 free points. wow :!: As luck would have it flying QF BNE-SIN and AY SIN-BKK in December.

I'm due to fly to LAX in a few weeks on the 107, but this makes me wonder if I should change and go via HKG possibly using CX? On the same matter I'm not sure of the distances and if this way earns any more (or fewer) points of SC's?

That will not work.

The conditions state that "connect with an eligible oneworld partner flight on Cathay Pacific or Finnair for travel within Asia". So your best bet would be to fly with QF or BA to SIN and then use CX to go to HKG and from there CX to LAX. This would qualify you for the 5,000 extra points.

It would also get you more status credits but would be a more expensive journey.

An alternative would be an xCIR22 fare. NM is the person to help you there.

You can certain fit it into an xCIR22 fare if you only need to go as far as LAX in the USA. You would still have about 5000 miles to play with inside the USA. In business class a DCIR22 is going to be cheaper than the standard J fare.

Agreed. The circle explorers are such good value. I don't know why anyone would fly direct to US!

I have not done that for many years - and I visit the USA multiple times each year  .

No interest shown in this promotion when I posted back in October.

Has anyone qualified for the 5,000 points?

If so, have you received the points yet?

Mal, Gaia? I think you would have qualified if you bothered to register.

I registered but didn't fly anywhere that allowed me to collect 5K points. Better to register and not use it, than not register and miss out.

I know IainF flew to HKG in the last month. I wonder if he registered??

Conditions say points will be posted by end of February. Just checking to see if anyone has received their's early.

I remember the disneyland 500 bonus points promotion where most were late in posting and were staggered over a period of time.

Oh well. Wait and see if they post by end of February before raising the alarm bells.

Yeah registered in Oct. Most of the time on the ball for QF promos, especially when free points are offered :)

Technically I may not meet the conditions for the promo.

A partial routing of mine was as follows:

SYD-HKG QF (2 night layover).
HKG-KUL CX

They were seperate tickets, so may not meet the "Connecting" rule of the conditions.

Then again, it is all open to interpretation. If the points don't post then I will chase it up...

Yes I registered and no I haven't received the 5000 points yet. I plan to email this weekend asking for the points.

You should probably wait another month, or you will be fobbed off "Points will be credited to your account by 28 February 2006"

Yes, you're right.

Yes that seems to be QF's policy on most matters. Wait until the last possible day.

Some people might be sweating on the points for upgrades, give them an early bonus for which they have already qualified. I qualified on the 26th December and more than likely receive the points same time as someone who qualified on the 31st January.

Well Qantas has another 2 hours or so to post the bonus into my account and still be within the "Points will be credited to your account by 28 February 2006" guidelines.

Then again, maybe they deemed me as ineligible. Anyone get points credited yet?

QF has definitely missed the promised deadline for AEDST. Maybe they meant by midnite on February 28th 2006.

I have all my ammunition ready to go. Registration e-mail and a record of eligible flights.
