Hi guys,

Recently flew EY on EY ticket.
Originally booked economy H-fare (eligible to earn)
Upgraded to J w points.

Fights showed up on account as no earn for points/sc
Submitted retro claim to the plat team and they rejected it.

Im suspecting it is because the ticket/fare that we ended up flying on was I, which is ineligible (I agree). However the velocity T&Cs has a specific section under Etihad re upgraded fares saying "Members travelling on upgraded fares that were purchased with Points or by bidding for an upgrade will earn as per the rules of the original fare class purchased".

Wanted to see what peoples thoughts were on here before I dig my heels in / kick up a fuss.

Cheers.

You used Etihad Guest miles to upgrade, but wish to credit the miles from the flight to Velocity? If you have no joy, maybe you could credit the miles to EY Guest instead?

I am fairly certain that the points and scs should credit as a H fare because that was the original fare booked, Try calling VA because on their end it might not show that the fare was upgraded, they might just see an I fare.

I had the same issue with SAA flights last year, the system only showed that it was an upgrade and not the original cash ticket. I wrote in with copies of the original booking and the upgrade confirmation and the points for the original fares were credited.

Sorry for the delay on my end. Didn't get my normal notifications of replies.

All sorted with EY claims. Semi frustrating that you have to chase all these flights on return. And even when you chase at first get told you are ineligible.

Still waiting on SAA retro claim after "surprise surprise" not posting either
