I've been trying to understand the products we can use with VA point redemptions.

Can anyway advise me of the correct answer to these questions that I'm struggling with?

1) EY has Residences and First Suites (apartment). Two different animals, correct? If so;
2) We can only redeem for First Suites, not Residences?
3) SQ only has First Suites?
4) We can redeem SQ First Suites by transferring points to Krisflyer?
5) Both airlines do a "double" suite option (two single suites that can join up)?
6) Both airlines do release 2 reward suites for the same flight?

Finally, has anyone flown both options and if so, which is preferred and why?

1. Almost correct. Residence and Apartment are A380, F Suite (different product again) on other aircraft. 787 suites are also different from older product.
2. Yes
3. SQ has Suites (A380) and F (777).
4. Yes
5. SQ yes, EY not really. In the sense that they can't be made into one bed.
6. No idea

EY have First Suites fully enclosed (similar to EK) and also First Appartments, only on A380s, which are bigger, very private with separate seat and bed. Two apartments can be joined together but there will still be a large divider in between so it's basically two single beds next to each other.

SQ have First Suites on their A380s, where middle seats can be converted to a double bed and also "standard" F product where the suites are not fully enclosed.

Unfortunately it became close to impossible to find Appartments availability to/from SYD and best option ATM is B777 F to AUH, then A380 to LHR if using EY (or vv). It's possible to find two seats in this way.

I think you may be wrong on the EY Apartments as it's a 1-1-1 layout there is no two apartments together with a divider all apartments are completely enclosed and separated by an aisle

EY Apartments are a 1-1 layout. Single aisle forward and backward combination with certain pairs have the bed next to each other.
