Platy's friend "Ms Platy" is travelling back to Brazil using the LAN flight SYD-(AKL)-SCL on a Thursday in mid December departing SYD at 1045.

I will probably go to SYD to see her off (ah!).

I am thinking of returning to CNS via the SYD-BNE-(MNL) flight QF019, which departs SYD at 1220 on the same day in the hope of escorting her through SYD and INTL and obviously accessing the F lounge.

Now the key question is that according to Platinum rules it appears that she would need to be travelling with me to get F lounge access...

...BUT according to OneWorld Emerald rules it appears that we just need both to be travelling on a OW flight on the same day!

Will they let me take into the F lounge?! Would OWE "outweigh" Platinum? Since I am Platinum with QF would they insist on Platinum rules "outweighing" OWE rules?

Also, what is the earliest I can check in for QF019 (thus maximising lounge time given her 0745 check in?)

Thanks for any insights/opinions, folks!

You are correct in regard to the rules as posted.

However, my experience with the SYD Flounge earlier this year when flying JQi was that I was able to have a QF flying guest.

As far as "travelling with" goes I guess that's open to interpretation. In any case the published oneworld rules may suffice; especially those specific to Qantas.

With regards to benefits on Qantas, the listed benefits for Platinum status apply.

With regards to benefits on other OW carriers, the listed benefits of OW apply

Thanks, Serfty, that's encouraging, I'll give it a try, but will be ready for the "disappointment" if entry is unsuccessful (which would be a pity when I think how good that breakfast was a couple of weeks ago!)

Many thanks, Dave, for the clarification, which I suspect is entirely correct. The "lounge dragons" (actually they have always been very personable to me in SYD FLounge, so I really shouldn't call them that!) may well apply that logic, so I will have very low expectations of being able to introduce Ms Platy to the FLounge experience on that occasion.
