I'm eagerly awaiting these details too - my DJ travel is all leisure, so it's almost 100% travel with my wife - I'm hoping the details will work to allow one of us to be turned gold before an international trip next year, rather than being a pair of traveling silvers on ~250SCs each.
Going to Europe it will make a huge difference to who I choose to fly with. If one of us was Gold, the lounge access and other benefits would immediately tip me toward flying within the Velocity 'alliance' regardless of cost (I'd be aiming for a Y+ travel class, although I realise I'd probably end up on Y from AUH into Europe). But as two silvers, other than SC earn, the Velocity 'alliance' offers very little. In that situation I'd be more inclined to purchase based merely on cost, and if I ended with someone who offered Velocity earn then great, but if not, there's not much lost.
This is one point where QF still has a crucial edge, in my view - QC membership gets you lounges everywhere as a non-status member. The other is lack of points upgrades on V Australia metal - but there have been inferences that Velocity is working on this.
