Can anyone tell me how long family transfers actually take, are these immediate or do you have to wait for them to transfer and if so how long.

I'm not sure about "immediate", but by the time one logs out of the transferrer's QFF account and logs into the Transferee's account, the transferred QFF points are normally there ...

From my experience family transfers happen instantly.
