Saw this code, 'discount business' on another website. Does anyone know how to buy I fares? I though all business was J.

Does I accrue points any less than J? If not, why not go I and not J?

Booking codes can vary by airline - ie I on one airline can be something completely different to another airline. On most (but not all) Star Alliance airlines "I" is award business class. I'll leave it to one of the experts as to what "I" is for Qantas.

QFF doesnt differentiate between discount and full fare business classes, ie earn the same for both status credits and miles.

Of course airlines may have less (or no) seats for that booking class on a particular flight, and as with economy typically the discounted fares sells out first, so even if airline sells it it is harder to find.

It is not uncommon for flights on prime routes to have no discounted business or first class at all as there is sufficient demand for full fares. One such example that I have seen many mentions of on another board is LAN SCL-AKL (& SYD) vv having little or no discounted first ("A") or first award.

I'm currently waitlisted to upgrade to Business on a few QF flights and it shows up on Galileo Viewtrip as Business Discount (U).

Qantas generally use the following Class codes for Business Travel:
Code:
J QF BUSINESS
D QF BUSINESS
I QF DISCOUNT BUSINESS
U QF Business - Award
There are some others but these are the main ones.

All non award codes earn full Business points and Status Credits. (U being award earns neither)

D is a bisiness class used for special round the world and circle type fares.
I is rarely available from Australia.
