Indeed - @goosh - you definitely have the time for it, if your timings hold!
So we can look forward to a Marriott review? I've seen it at various stages of the project and would consider it for my next ADL jaunt.Have got lots of time.
Used my free night to stay in town at the new Marriott. Had 4pm late checkout, and they have let me stay up in the M-Club Lounge to when I decide to depart.
Will definitely check out the Qantas Lounge, then head over to Plaza Premium.
Thanks all, looking forward to the Xmas flight to DXB.

You probably could have asked.ORC question please.
As per my post #2571, I was happy with the outcome of $ refund and credit voucher for my downgraded flight( aircraft change USM-SIN)
Would I have been eligible for ORC as well?
Too late you think in your considered opinion @ @MEL_Traveller?You probably could have asked.
Welcome to posting on AFF @Oscar1649Hi, I am a Qantas platinum member and will be travelling in economy from Sydney to Bali, I heard that airlines like Garuda offer fast track immigration for frequent flyers?
, so does anyone know weather Qantas platinum members get fast track immigration at Bali/Denpasar?
On QF when flying internationally you cannot upgrade a “Sale” fare, only Saver and Flex.First time post and only a new member... This might seem like a real dumb question haha. But is an upgrade possible somehow?
I thought it was weird that it was saying not available on the fare type but it is on the second domestic leg. The booking was all the same fare type...

Ahh right. Yeah fair enough, cheersOn QF when flying internationally you cannot upgrade a “Sale” fare, only Saver and Flex.
When flying domestically you can upgrade all economy fare types. So your sale fare can be upgraded Melbourne to Brisbane but not the Honolulu leg.
Bear in mind that the crew are most likely under instruction on what the can/cannot do, and to remain fully prepared for departure in a situation like this. They won’t have freedom to do whatever they want. Doing a drinks run of a full cabin would take a lot of time and would risk further delaying an already delayed flight if the issue was fixed mid way through the drinks run.Not a question, but sharing a recent experience. I was on QF123 on December 11th, SYD-ZQN, which was delayed until the following day after we had boarded. Despite it being my home port, Qantas were very good in providing accomodation at an airport hotel to avoid a crack of dawn wake-up for the re-scheduled departure time, Ubers to/from the hotel and a $50 meal voucher per person. My only disappointment was with the way the delay was handled after we had boarded. We were told an engineer was needed, and then heard little for another 30 minutes. No drinks were offered during this time. We were eventually told there was an issue with the instruments required for ZQN, but not much else. About 80 minutes after our scheduled departure, we were told the instrument couldn't be replaced in time to meet the ZQN evening curfew. At no point were drinks provided, and the cabin crew were completely absent. I appreciate it's an awful experience for them too, with angry pax inevitable and I suspect the crew similarly operating on limited information.
Anyway, I sent off a feedback form yesterday explaining the experience, and was proactively offered 10k points today. I don't know if this is a standard offer, or status dependent, but I was fairly surprised by the offer if I'm being honest. I've sent a reply asking if they'll provide the same compensation to 2 family members I was travelling with (albeit on a separate booking). They're both bronze, while I am gold and on track to hit platinum with current forward bookings.
On balance, the delay was very well handled with airport accommodation, Ubers and meal vouchers, with additional compensatory points provided.
I agree - but sitting in row 4, not even J pax were offered a drink throughout the 80 minutes. Also, the decision to delay the flight was made at around the 40 minute mark, the remaining 40 minutes were spent arranging accommodation and customs requirements (given we had gone through passport control). Drinks weren't offered during this period. Also, when I say drinks, I merely mean water, not a full drinks run.Bear in mind that the crew are most likely under instruction on what the can/cannot do, and to remain fully prepared for departure in a situation like this.
