I am travelling next year using One World FF points. Is there anywhere I can get details on airport charges for different locations? Thanks.
Which particular carrier?I am travelling next year using One World FF points.
I don't think you understood my question. Using multiple carriers is irrelevant.Using one world a round the world, so I have to use multiple carriers.
Yes the planning is just as good....Actually the planning is just as good as the trip.
as this post aboveI want to fly the cheapest way, even though I am using points, but it seams that we may have the wrong view on QF charges...
If using QF FF points to book a OneWorld Award, it must be ticketed by QF so you have to pay the QF extortion rates for their fuel fines. You cannot have it issued by AA. That is only an option if purchasing a OneWorld Explorer type of fare.
There is not such thing as "OneWorld Points". You are a member of a particular airline's FF program and the points are in that program and can only be redeemed through that FF program, even is the flights will be operated by a partner airline. So if your points are Qantas FF points then its Qantas that will be issuing the ticket and you will be charged their fees. You have no choice, even if the flights are operated by other OneWorld partner airlines.Actually I am going to use points via One World points for an around the world ticket - thus other airlines are an option.
It all depends on the flights you book and how its booked. For example, if you had AA miles to book an AA OneWorld Award, you don't pay any fuel surcharges on most flights, but would on BA flights, so selecting the right flights can avoid the fuel fines. But book using QF FF points and QF will charge you fuel fines on most sectors, except domesic USA and AU flights and a few other exceptions. Understanding how each auirline calculates the fuel surcharges and manipulating the itinerary to suit can save a lot of money. But as you are using QF FF points you really don't have any choice but to pay QF's charges and their carges are based on the routing and not the operating airlines. And yes my example used non one world airlines but I was examining the claim that QF fuel charges are "extortion" - compared to other one world and non one world airlines thsi is not the case. I can olny imagine that the very existance of a fuel charge is the real issue - and that is a very different matter!

If you only have QFF points then you can only book the Oneworld award via QFF.Ah yes I understand. I had intended to book via QF. I gather that I will be able to book via AA, I will look into it. Do you know if I will have to call AA or if I can do this via the web - I have QF frequent flyer points.
Please do come back and relate ...Thanks everyone, when booking I will try and use AA where available and note any fuel charges be assigned by other airlines and if Qantas try to hit me for more I will ask why and see what happens. I will let everyone know the result next month.
