[SIZE=+0][SIZE=+0]Shouldn't Frequent Flyer Members receive Status Credits for "Reward" Flights. These Flights are in fact "Paid" Flights, as the accumulated Points clearly have a value, and the Airline is reimbursed for each "Reward" Flight. As they are rewarded at a reduced cost, I understand that Mileage Points would not be given, but surely status tier credits simply reflect the amount of flying done in a particular year and would allow the Member to keep their correct Card Status the following year. This would be particularly relevant to those Members who are very frequent flyers and amass large numbers of points for redemption and then could find their FF Status downgraded the following year because they haven't earned enough Tier Credits. [SIZE=+0][SIZE=+0]How can we as a Group put pressure on the relevant Airlines to issue tier credits in future ?

Fortunately now the any seat awards earn points and SC and can be had at about the same cost as for classic awards, with some searching and planning.

Personally I can see an argument that a classic award should earn a token number of SC, say 5 or no more than 10 regardless of the the distance. But on balance I don't agree that anything should be earned for the "reward" of loyalty. A key point is classic awards are one bonus/present for loyalty. One needs to earn the loyalty before getting the "present", and I can't see how the "present" should contribute to earning some of the other benefits of loyalty like status.

Edit: The same could be said for any seat award but those awards also can be directly related to the cost of a ticket. That is the number of points will change and increase in step with the dollar price of the ticket.

geoffl,

As medhead says, this is possible now with Any Seat Awards (ASA).

Many ASA booking can be done for prices not dissimilar to Classic rewards and often are good value when compared to paid tickets. You get SCs and points so I am not sure what else you would need.
