Unsure how new this is, but it would seem for 'privacy' reasons on a Qantas issued BP for a partner airline, your FF number and status is not printed. It simply says 'QF FF'. This means if trying to access lounge or use priority boarding etc based on status, it is an argument (or you have to show digital card). This has happened to me on QF codeshares on EK and a BA connecting flight.

Even accessing a Qantas lounge turns into a saga because no status is shown (and it seems even if scanned by Qantas lounge it may not come up as a digital card is asked for also).

Ironically when travelling the other way (ie an EK issued BP for Qantas connecting flight) FF number and status is clearly shown...

It could be that the FF card is absent from the barcode as well, or the lounge dragons not even willing to scan it because they can't see any status on it.

I've had EK specifically ask for my QFF card to enter in the FF number, despite scanning my QF boarding pass, so it's definitely to keep the card handy in any case.

This changed some years ago - and for the better imo

QF do provide the relevant status for partner flight BP's eg for AA mine will nite "QF FF EMERALD" which is all that is required and never an issue.

Btw it's mot just for privacy, but security. Printing the number means if you lose a BP or leave it somewhere, that then opens your name and number as 2 of 3 points needed for account access. Many airlines mask the numbers for this reason.

It should be. Or at least something meaningful to the partner (eg OW Emerald). For EK flights it may work differently (since obviously OW status is meaningless to them, but something like Gold or Plat is)
