Hi Everybody,

Just wondering if anyone knows why Fiji aren’t releasing seats to book for July 2025 yet.

They currently only have up to 30/06/2025.

Do you think they may be falling in line with AA (331 days)?

I called the call centre but they had no idea.

As FJ will be using AAdvantage when they join Oneworld, they will at some time transition to AAdvantage. But the FJ-AA ffp details are yet to be published or the date FJ join Oneworld.

Unless someone comes up with a better idea, I’d just be keeping an eye on it for July 2025 to open up.

The award seats haven't released either for the SYD/MEL-NAN-SFO/LAX routes. I'm able to see individual award seats from NAN-SFO/LAX in July but the Australia-Fiji sector has no availability even in economy past 28-June. I wonder why.

Same with JAL to Tokyo, nothing in July, all award availability ends on 30-Jun.

Are Qantas throttling supply ex-Australia?

FJ are going to use AAdvantage. AA software works on 330 days out as the maximum that can be booked for cash or award. They will at some time transition to AAdvantage.
18/07/2024 + 347 days = 30/06/2025
04/08/2024 + 330 days = 30/06/2025

Award availability with ff partners is a 2 way agreement. Cash, one way or the other, is the common denominator.
  • airline (FJ) determines what to release to partners (QF, AA and others). Effectively selling seats for cash.
  • frequent flyer programme (QF, AA etc) determines what to release to its member's (to limit its liability)
Having shorter availability to its own ff members and longer (~better) availability to other frequent flyer programs would be unusual.
Cash sale time lines could be different.

School holidays in the east coast states?

Thanks everyone, I’m after a normal paid seat not a reward seat.
They selling thru to 05 July now, so might have just been a coincidence that you could only see to 30 June when you looked a few days ago?

JL exists. I was staring at some F flights in jul syd-hnd, hnd-jfk wondering if we should book.

Only shows until end June when you search the full route (which is 108k points in J).

Nothing ex-Sydney to NAN in July.

NAN to SFO open in July (only till 4-Jul and the one on 4th is NAN-HND on FJ and HND-SFO on JL). The NAN-SFO leg on the 2nd alone costs 82k points + if say theoretically SYD-NAN opens that's 41k points in J totalling 123K points vs 108,400 on the SYD-SFO full flight on offer in June.

Are higher tiers able to see the direct availability for 108400? I'm bronze. I thought this wouldn't matter for partner airlines.

Yes this seems to have been added over the past 24 hours, everything I was seeing yesterday was via KUL (MH+JL from KUL). Hopefully they start dropping FJ soon.

do you mean they get booked quickly or they won't even be open for QFF? I've been logging in at 10 every morning since the start of the month

OP is looking for revenue flights. Everyone else seems to be looking for reward flights.

As you are seeking revenue flights, this reply is redundant, but my thinking was maybe FJ were not releasing reward seats yet due to expected demand.

I have been looking for both paid and reward seats. They ended up releasing the Fiji paid seats around the 5th of July. There was however around a $4k increase in their business class seats 😬. We were hoping to book some business class reward seats and pay for another but with this price increase it seems I’ll be looking at plan B.

I’m wondering if it is a mistake? Their value (cheaper) fare is more expensive than their Plus fare!

FWIW, this occurred last year as well. Predictable release right up to July, then stopped/became spottier, before picking up again later in August. I imagine it's to do with July simply being a peak season in both markets.

Thank you - yes that does help! I was starting to think I needed to wipe that as an option all together.

I was looking too & come across this thread just now.

I booked with VA instead.
MEL to NAN - VA in J
NAN to MEL - VA in Y
Over July School hols.

would prefer to return with FJ Y on the Max.

I guess we keep hitting QF website daily.

Can certainly buy flights Aus Eastcoast on Fiji website.

Hi Everyone, just an update. Fiji started to release reward seats via Qantas last week and their cash price for J also went back to a normal level.

I managed to book 3 x Reward seats in J from Syd - Lax and I paid cash for the 4th fare.

So for those trying something similar there is a definite holt on reward seats for July and the first week of August.

All my flights have been ticketed and confirmed. Given my flight is almost a year away do I just need to look out for schedule changes and make sure Qantas reissues my reward tickets if the flight time changes? Or will I be ok now? I did read something about this and the partner airline canceled their booking as Qantas failed to reissue the tickets?
