We (me, Mr Katie, and 4yo Little Miss) are spending 4 nights in Fiji in Feb, flying Syd-Nan with Air Pacific.
Can anyone recommend a family friendly hotel?
I have Priority Club membership, but no status, so it wouldn't be essential to stay at one of their properties. Kids clud would be nice, but not essential. Swimming facilities important, and would be nice to have some other stuff nearby to look at.

I stayed at the Hilton recently. Their kids club looked to be good but pools weren't amazing and no lifeguards as far as I could see.

Intercon our fav. Good kids club, two pools, try to get beachfront if you can.

It's about an hours drive south from Nadi

I’ve only ever stayed at the Intercontinental Fiji so I can’t compare it to other hotels but we thought it was very good. We stayed at the Club Intercontinental which they treat as a separate resort-within-a-resort and the perks that come with this make it worthwhile in my opinion.

I can second that.

The best resort in a dismal country.

I stayed at the Sheraton Denaru Villas in May and it was pretty good. As a guest there you can use all the facilities at the Sheraton Fiji Resort (where you check in) and the Westin. Between the three resorts there are about 4 or 5 pools. Whilst I don't have any kids and didn't take note of facilities for kids, there were plenty of families staying there, so I suspect there are good facilities for kids.

Fiji beach resort & spa managed by Hilton
Brilliant setting, great pool, amazing food.
Apartments are great, plenty of room and kitchens too.
I don't have kids, but the kids I saw there were having a great time with the staff.
DJ points earn was a bonus too.
Would also recommend doing a 4WD tour that goes up into the highlands and to a school and village. Also the jet ski safari out to the islands was fantastic.

Belated thanks to everyone for your comments! :)
I'm trying to book this, along with apartments for Paris and London in April/May. Probably should sort out Fiji first, as that'll get me to SG for the Europe trip, and it is only 3 weeks away. ;)

I'm looking at somewhere to take my daughter in April. So i am tossing up on the Westin, Sheraton or Shangri-La. as they aren't far from the airport.

anyone got anything else to throw in? I've got my SPG gold if that makes a difference?

Have you booked yet, the IC resort is on the BOGO no cert required special this month and next for priority privilege which makes it pretty cheap, a king suite comes in at $230 a night, the entry level King Garden works out at $150 a night or so. If you were in invest in the Ambassador program you would also get an upgrade etc as well as a free night cert, the two work well together!

There was a recent thread about problems at the IC in NADI. If you are comfortable with being able to resolve those sort of issues then the BOGO seems the way to go.

Also see the report I posted in the Hilton thread of a stay we had last Thursday night at Fiji Beach Resort and Spa Managed by Hilton. Very, very good.

The Hilton is on the same island as these. The cab ride from the airport is approx $FJ35.

I recommend that you go to the Maldives instead. Fiji is a dump.

Yeah but Homer did you find it not being close to the beach a drag?

Can they drive you in those buggy things?

We spent some time at the Sheraton over Xmas.
You get to use all 3 hotels facilities e.g Sheraton, villas, Westin.
It was a nice hotel overall with a refurbishment a few years back.

Also, look at the Radisson (few doors up from Sheraton). Was also nice and at the time very economical.

All these hotels are close to the marina and thefore easy to get on tour boats as well.

If possible, stay 1 night at e.g Sheraton, then catch one of the boat transfers to a close island. The islands are a nicer stay IMHO. Many of the islands have good kids clubs as well e.g Treasure Island Treasure Island Resort - Fiji, Resorts, Hotels, Weddings, Honeymoons or Plantation Island Plantation Island Resort . Fiji

Happy travels.

The main resort is on a nice beach with easy access. My neighbour stayed last year in a beach bungalow so they had direct access to the sand and at high tide the water was only metres from their front door. The Club resort-within-a-resort is on a hill above the main resort. Initially we called for a buggy every time we wanted to go down to the beach or the dive centre. The buggy delay ranged from "I'm already out the front waiting for you Mr Homer" to about 5 minutes at worst case. A few days into our stay we started walking down as we felt a bit lazy waiting for the buggy each time. it is a 5-10 minute walk which we enjoyed when we weren't lugging dive gear.

Problem with only going 4 nights is that you actually only have 2 days. I am probably going to go for Novotel and renting a car to discover the Island when I'm there in April. We have enough nice beaches around Sydney so am not to fussed about not being close to one on Fiji.

Yup, already booked and paid. :(
We got a King bed beachfront room, with trundle bed for Little Miss (at FJD60/night!!). I wanted to test out this kind of config for our stay in Singapore on the way from Europe later this year.

We'll have 3 days - arrive Thurs night, and leave Monday morning. :)
Honestly, Little Miss will be just as happy with a pool, so we probably won't go to the beach much. Oh well, have to have another trip some time. ;)

Cest La Vie, have a great trip regardless, Fiji is not bad with kids, especially with the flying time.
