After years of loving an unlimited points platinum visa... it was officially capped in the latest points installment, with another 5 months til the year is up.

Anyone else not feeling the citilove?

Now that really hurts when you were getting something extra and then it goes off the table after you have exceeded the cap.
I went Select for a true point a dollar on all Visa expenditure. Select is expensive at $700 plus $49 if you need QF points.
Maybe they can cut you an upgrade deal?

Yes.Ditched mine 3 months ago.

Have some taxes to pay so the fee to get the points is 0.65% and I needed to be sure the points would not get capped.
Amex has a 0.833% cost and reloading the card to the limit takes 3 days.It is a bigger points rate but at the higher cost for QF points.

Further update, I called citi to see if this was right - anyway turns out im only a few months into my year (since paying the $250 yearly fee).

A nice manager "Ryan" wanted to take away 60K points that I had apparently gone over by - even after admitting several times citibank had "made an error on a large number of accounts" and that no points would be deducted from other cardholders. How nice of me to bring this to their attention only to be penalised?

It went a little further than that, however it's been escalated to the customer advocacy team. I'll report back on the outcome here and on the other CC forums I've linked this up in... watch this space.

Another update...

After getting through to management (twice) in Customer Advocacy, they admitted fault and that I had been capped early. Talked to their legal department and got back to me a week later.

Clearly they must have received advice of a screwup...and it went like this:

First offer: 2 years annual fee reversal + 10K points + lose 30k points.
Second offer: 2 years annual fee reversal + 20K points + lose 30k points
Third offer: 1 year annual fee + keep my 30k points I was entitled to anyway.

Very odd that the offers hit a plateu (mind you - they are offerring it to me, I never asked for anything except for it to be resolved).

Citibank closed the case and left my plat card uncapped until it's resolved, which they said could take up to a year.

I would have settled for 3 years fee-free or a free upgrade to Visa Select, which - judging by the latest spams in the mail - not many folks are taking up.

More updates as they come...

On Citi Select we did get it working so the Mrs has an extra 140,000 points by not using a half point a dollar card.
If you are not tenacious and get quickly frustrated just read the Citi Select thread and then do nothing.
I think it is now ok as we have enough points off this card for a First return to LAX for their $749 card fee on QF.

Same. Time to ditch it. Did like fee free platinum, but not no points. Have to do the maths on what to replace it with. Probably need to shift $120,000 of $150,000 per annum to an Amex on 1.5 x, and leave the remaining $30k on the platinum.
