As per the title - special fares are available on Finnair ex BKK to Europe, starting at AUD2500. Available direct from the AY website (Thailand page).

Departs BKK 1055 am, so that might limit your connections to BKK from OZ.

Its the quickest journey from Asia via HEL with AY and using the BKK airport is always cheaper than HKG/SIN for J class fares with AY. That said, I've often flown to BKK with QF, overnighted at the Novotel at the airport (with comp transfers), caught the flight to Europe the next morning and arrived late arvo early evening into the final European destination.Used QF points to fly to/from BKK or sometimes returned home from HKG with QF after a flight with AY from Europe to HKG. Good service and now fully flat seats comes highly recommended.

Last time I checked AY were using older model non lie flat seats on BKK to Helsinki run during g 2014 however were planning to update to better J class, 1x2x2 seating with lie flat beds in later model aircraft in 2015.
If you book direct with airline you can book combined Y class on daytime flight and J return flight to BKK. Sorry can't remember precise details.

Were they? We flew this route with them in 2010 and there were lie flat seats then, unless you mean 'fully flat' as from memory they were about 170 degrees. That's flat enough for me but others might prefer the 180 degrees. Cabin configuration was 1 + 2 + 2 I think (I know we had single seats by the window). Would recommend the airline as we had no problems at all and it was a good price from Sydney even.

I remember reading that they started off with newer model from BKK and then reverted to older model with 2x2x2 seating configuration for rest of 2014. AY were also upgrqding their lounge in Helsinki. I was particularly interested as wanted to travel in a single seat by the window. the staff in Sydney were most helpful. It is good to read reports from other travellers. I usually cross check on airlinequality.com to read most recent experiences prior to booking
