Hi,
just looking to go back to Europe from SYD and found a great (?) deal from Finnair NRT-AMS for 1400 AUD in First Class. First questions I guess is if they actually have a first class cabin or whether this is some kind of Y-plus service. All sounds very good. Also - what SC can I expect even if the service is more business but the ticket states first class (would be great to get F points)!?

As I'm close to qualifying for WP this would be a great deal !

Thanks.

AFAIK, Finnair doesn't have a F cabin, and instead only offers Economy and Business. I'm also not aware of any Y+ type service from them.

So not sure what type of fare you are seeing.

The Qantas Airline Earning table has no reference to First Cabin, so the most SC's you would be earning is per what Business would earn you.

The fare states "first class" so maybe it means Business in real terms. Still not a bad price for a comfy seat. Anyone ever done these sectors on Finnair ? Quite keen to just book and report back on the experience.

Is the plane an MD11 of A340.
Have flown MD11 inJ from HKG to HEL and the seating in J is very similiar to current QF skybed.

It's a A340 but being a more modern plane sure can not be worse than the MD11. Looks like I will have to give it a go :p

AY073/AY074 fly between NRT and HEL - also found it on their website.

The web site also shows the 340 is a 2 class set up - Y and J. There is a panorama of both cabins. The J seats look similar to the sky beds.

Yes, had a look at the panarama, they are the samebeds as the MD11, skybeds. The MD 11 were all updated in 2006/2007.

Much newer than QF 767's which flight internationally with old Millo beds.

OK I think I know what's happening here with the fare, and I believe it's a mistake/misunderstanding.

I see that there is a cheap fare published for booking code Z.

Z is not first for Finnair, but rather a deep discount economy fare.

Thanks for that - maybe it is a case of "When something looks to good to be true.......":(

Thanks for all input from the forum members - just saved me a bad experience!
