Anyone got any ideas what this kind of cabin configuration is likely to be? It is on a 747.

QF customer service seems to think there may be a change to a 2-class plane, but can't explain why there is seemingly only 1 seat in each of rows two and three...

I believe it is a normal 2 class config but, iirc, Qantas code shares on that route and the other seats assigned to the codeshare partner

I concur with this assumption. Codeshares can show this way on seat maps.

give seatguru a go...

qf64 is a qantas operated flight. I would think it a 2 class airbus, or maybe a 767.

I also doubt a twin, because although the range between SYD-JNB is 6,862mi a twin would need to fly a slightly longer route as i understand based on what the 777's fly.

Range: (approx)
A332 - 6,749nm
B763ER - upto 6,590nm (not the older QF ones i guess)
B444 - 7,260nm
B744ER - 7,670nm

Regardless of idle speculation, QF63/4 is operated with a 747 and the seat map looks quite right for a 2 class 747 with some seats assigned for use under the SA codeshare

Taking a random date in november, the SA codeshare seatmap shows that there are seats

16AB
18AB

23,24,25 JK

The Qantas flight number seat map shows all the other seats other than those

Hi, to the OP, where did you get the seat map from? It's just, when I look on Qantas seat selection for my QF63/64 point bookings (First & Business) in June/July 2010 for the World Cup I still see a 747 First Cabin.

I realise that confirming speculation is a contradiction in terms, but does anyone have any idea how strong the info is? I was looking forward to my first First experience. I see they are still selling First in July 2010.

I'd be pretty disappointed if we were bumped down and there was no business left, or a change in day, missing connections /tours etc.

Thanks
Macka

It's from the QF website seat selection option. AFAIK, this is the only JNBSYD flight to be reconfigured in the fortnight around my flight - EF shows F+A are still being sold on every flight other than this one.

I hope you get your full service flight there AND back.

Hi macka, have you looked your booking up on www.checkmytrip.com ?

Once 'logged' into C/M/T and your booking is being displayed, look to the bottom of the "your flight selection" box for:
[+]view details click to see additional information including price, payment and flight special requests.

Click the "[+]view details" and the window will expand and you may see any seat pre-selection there. If you do see a seat number, click that/those and you may get a seat map.

Can you advise what you see?

Hi
Thanks for your help.

The First Class Leg QF63 in June2010 on a 747-400 shows us as allocated the same seats (3e & 3f) with the green confirmed tick that Qantas shows as allocated on it's site in a cabin of 4 rows 2x2x4x4 numbered rows 1-4.

The return leg QF64 is in Business in July 2010 is all the same detail (but business) with us allocated exit 16 J&K upstairs, so not much help for this issue really. Downstairs shows as 4 rows of apparently 7 seats with J&K missing in the first 3.

Cheers

Do you have an Expert Flyer / KVS subscription? If not, PM me the date and I'll see what E/F indicates.

Thanks for the PM.

Your flight is showing: RC F6 A6 J9 C0 D0 I0 W3 T0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0 So sold out in WHY.

Looking at the seat map I can ovserve your seats blocked. There are no other First class seats allocated.

But still First class.

Strangely enough, I see very few allocated seats - maybe most of the booked PAX have no QF status.

Thank you for the research. I'll guess that the seats in whY are booked out (but not yet allocated to a person) by tour groups. The largest, the Fanatics, have a total of over 1,000 people going so seats will be tight.

Thanks again
